I am looking for some memory for my Emachine T1840 desktop...It is I believe DDR PC 2100 although my computer is reporting that it is PC 3200...which I think is backwards compatibale...anyway I am looking for 512 or possibly 256 megs...let me know what you got.

Yes, both PC2700 and PC3200 are backward compatible with PC2100. They would operate at the same speed, but I think it's still good to try to get PC2700 or PC3200 because they would have a higher chance than PC2100 to be compatible with your future, faster machines.

Thanks for confirming what I thought. And I dont normally worry about future compatibilty....i always just start over with a new computer unless I give it to one of my kids or friends.

I might have two 256mb sticks available soon, if I end up with a replacement PC system board that doesn't take my PC2700 ram.

Ok...I tried the cd that came with my laptop...it appears to be for upgrading from a previous version of Windows XP...but the restore cd that came with my laptop from Toshiba says that it is the Windows Vista restore CD...I am confused......
