I have access to a used A31 (in excellent cosemetic condition) sometime next week. I don't knoe the detailed specifications much except that it has a 1.6 GHz P4-M CPU and 256 MB of RAM (no HDD, win XP CoA). Screen is supposed to be 1024*768, but the machine does not boot up with the existing HDD. I was wondering if anyone here will be interested. If there is enough interest, I'll pick it up and part it out.

What kind of price are you looking at?

I don't know for sure whether the mobo is working or not - I had a cursory look at this laptop (it was in the closet, for god's sake!) and tried powering it up after letting it charge for a while. It did not power up and I had no time to check it fully.

It just might be a bad CMOS battery or maybe something is wrong with the mobo, I don't know. The person who owns this is willing to sell it to me for a low price since he is not using it and doesn't need it. I figured someone here might be interested and thats why I made the post. I don't have a price for it right now since I don't know what exactly is wrong with it. It was primarily used as a desktop repleacement at home and rarely moved, so it is in top shape.

I'll post a price after I look at its innards and trying to get it to work.

Ok...depending on the price I might be interested in it as a whole...however, if you are going to part it out, I might be interested in the LCD.

I'd be interested in a working mobo.

I managed to repair that A31 and got it working, much to the owner's surprise. the CMOS battery had run out as I had suspected and I also replaced the inverter which had gone bad. I upgraded the memory and installed a fresh copy of win xp and the user is refusing to sell it after seeing it run now  I think I should have bought it from him before repairing it - would have made a swell "download" system for my home :D

Sorry you guys, I'll let you know when I come across any more stuff. A z50 workpad might be coming soon if anyone wants it.
