Well the time has come to upgrade and part with this one, or so I have been told. I need a 64 Bit Linux platform so I am moving to a T60. I have loved this T42 with all the extras.
So here it is T42 2373-M1U stock was
"Pentium M 745 1.8Ghz, 512MB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HDD, 14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon 9600, 24x24x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD, IBM 802.11a/b/g wireless(MPCI), Bluetooth/Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, Fingerprint Reader, 6c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro"
Then I added,
*1GB more ram to total 1.5GB
*100GB 7200RPM 7k100 Hitachi hard drive the fastest drive avail, I have the original 80GB 5400 IBM/Hitach drive if you need the features but it would be an added 70$ charge
*Upgraded CPU to a Pentium M 765 2.1Ghz(I will inclued the 745 so that if you were to have waranty issues you could put back in the old cpu prior to service)
*9Cell LIon extended battery
*Ultrabay 2nd hdd adapter
I used this laptop for a lot of VMware work and it runs fast with Linux as that is what I ran for the most part. The XP install that is on the drive is what the company provided me when I purchased the laptop. It is missing the Rescue recovery partition, darn IT dept would never fix it either. Mirror copy of what is on the original drive, I used an Open source G4U works better than Ghost.
The 6cell battery has 26 Cycles on it, the 9 cell has 5 Cycles on it, Both hold full charge. Warranty is on it till 5/18/2008 but again with the upgraded CPU you might have to put back the old one if you had any issues, but the upgrade was well worth it trust me, I did a fair amount of DVD shrinking to my media player and on average it I dropped 20% time on the shrink and on a 30 min process
.
Please PM me any questions you have, I hate to part with it but I need 64bit Linux for some dev work. The laptop is in mint condition exept for some normal wear on the keys from typing, I used ScreenSavrz to protect the display. I am asking 810$+30$ shipping and handling/insurance I accept PayPal,Money Order or cashiers check. I am a seasoned ebayer (thomasjs) if you are looking for history.
Thank you
PS, you get a power supply too
