How Much Would My T23 Fetch?
I'm thinking about selling one of the T23s in my signature (2647-LU4) and was wondering how much I should expect to sell it for. The condition and specs are as follows:
It's in good shape overall. Has some minor blemishes on the lid.
1.13ghz PIII-M 14.1" XGA screen
1GB PC133 (both modules have heatsinks)
80GB 5400RPM Samsung drive
DVD/CD-RW
Internal WiFi (Broadcom 54G or IBM combo card)
Other things that would likely be included:
(All batteries were run with the T23 full speed and brightness, and recording to MP3 with AudioGrabber)
Main battery #1 (4400mAh (re-celled), hits 0% at 1.5hr, shuts off at 2hr)
Main battery #2 (4000mAh, hits 0% at 40-45 min, shuts off at 1.5hr)
Main battery #3 (3600mAh, hits 0% at 30 min, shuts off at 1hr)
UltraBay 2000 battery (3200mAh, hits 0% at 1.25 hr, shuts off at 1.5hr)
72W IBM AC adapter
Docking station with 24X CD-ROM and USB 2.0 PCI card
Port replicator
UltraBay 2000 2nd HDD adapter
UltraBay 2000 floppy drive
External UltraBay 2000 enclosure
Plastic "spacer" for empty UltraBay slot
WinXP Pro installed with COA and recovery disks
Win2000 COA
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I'm looking for a T23 for my girlfriend (I'm in England, she's in New York) and I'd certainly offer $300 for it. There's actually rather more stuff than I was thinking of getting (a Docking Station *and* a Port Replicator?
but it's certainly a good set of stuff. Let me know if you're interested in selling to me?
Cheers,
Howard

You got that right! I recently sold a T23 that had a slightly faster CPU and hard drive, but less RAM with built-in wireless and the same screen-and none of the extras you have listed such as the extra batteries and docking station. I sold mine for $340 shipped, so you should be able to get more than that-as long as it is in nice condition.dsigma6 wrote:Since I'm not going to be buying it, I can tell you $300 is a low ball on that entire package.
I lost count...

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I'll try to take some pictures tonight to show the condition.
Well, I suppose it depends on what things you'd trade. Would you PM me with an idea of what you have?Doom5 wrote:Would you interested in anything in partial trade + cash towards your T23? PC parts, peripherals, software, gaming hardware/software?

I've added pictures to my first post, now you can see what kind of shape the T23's in.

Since i'm the one that BOUGHT Eric's computer I can probably give you a pretty good idea of what people might be looking for.
The RAM and built in wireless, as well as the great physical condition of the machine are the big selling points. All of the included accessories sure doesn't hurt either. In order to get a good price out of it, you are going to need to find someone that appriciates thinkpads, so this forum is probably your best bet. My friends thought I was crazy when I paid over $300 for a 4 year old laptop, but they have never owned a thinkpad, and they don't have a ton of accessories for it like I do either (basically everything you have, which is A LOT, plus a few more ultrabay batteries and a few ultraport devices).
You should get $400 for your setup. You would almost definately make more if you sold the laptop by itself for $300-$350 and parted the rest out. Lots of people would be interested in the external ultrabay carrier and the full docking station, I would guess. I know those items in particular make me love the T2X series machines I have had.

I definitely agree with this assessment. If you wait for the person that isn't just looking for a bare machine, but a "system", it's definitely worth the extra.schiesz wrote:You should get $400 for your setup. That's a very good point, I could sell it with the best battery (maybe the UB2K battery as well) and sell the rest separately. I'm waiting on a couple of things to arrive for it, but I may be able to put it up for sale later this week.

I'm fairly interested, I just don't need all the extras. Just the laptop, ac cord, battery, maybe the Ultra bay battery, and an optical drive.
Let me know when you're 100% on what you're going to do with.
I really would like an SXGA+ unit, but they're so difficult to find. Many ebayers won't even respond with the seven character model code, which I need.
I'm also look at the Compaq n600c, which can come with an SXGA+ panel, but same deal with the sellers usually not responding with the part number.
Ugh
