This is a pull from my personal T60, and it works fine. This is a mini pci-e card (NOT mini-PCI), so make sure that it will work on your thinkpad before you buy - if you have doubts, ask me here and I'll let you know.
Asking price: $16 shipped.

Would it be worth upgrading the 2915 I have on my Z60m? (I do believe it's mini pci-e)

The 2915 sits in a mini-PCI slot, not pci-e as far as I know ... the z60m has a min-PCI-e that sits empty unless you have got a WWAN adapter.
As to advantages of 3945 over 2915, intel claims that the 3945 is more power efficient (I dont know how true this is) - they both are a/b/g cards and should be able to connect to most networks.
