I've been using the dome ones for the longest time but just decided to try out the rim one (concave shaped). I LOVE IT. Unfortunately mine is a quite smooshed from spending most of its life shoved in a drawer. Looking for a few extras and for little money preferably. Thanks.
Picture of the different types here, I'm looking for the bottom one:

I would've taken Bill's offer, but already bought them before checking the replies here.
comes out to $2 each for 5, and less for more:

As an owner of several nudemike obtained 760 compatible caps, I'm gonna take a wild guess they aren't compatible with the T, R, X or Z series models I'm currently considering to get.
If I'm right, are there any aftermarket caps of different colors that will replace caps for those series?

These caps are the ones that come from the Thinkpad T60's
I would think they are compatible, but don't quote me on that.
can anyone else ring in on this with their opinions of backwards compatibility with older thinkpads?

$1US a pack + $1 shipping, provided they go regular lettermail.
if you wanted more, I'd put them in a box and obviously shipping would be more

No one else knows if the current ones are backward compatible?

I don't think the trackpoint cap design has changed over the years, I think you can use the newer ones on the older IBM laptops without any issues.

They're backward compatible. I'm using one of the spare Soft Rims on my X31, that came with my T60.

thx for ringing in

Thanks for that.
However, does the backward compatibility go past the lettered series?

I'm pretty sure a trackpoint is a trackpoint, and will work on all thinkpads. They have never deviated from the square under the trackpoint cap itself. if 1 thing remains constant with IBM it's a trackpoint

I had hoped as much, although I had seen listings for caps on the web with descriptions like "Only for T, X, Z...series". I also remember switching a Toshiba or Compaq cap with a TP one, and there was some difference.
I'm more interested if current Trackpoint posts are the same all the way back to the 600/700's.

I can vouch that you can use newer caps on 600 and 570 series, haven't had older than that in a long time, but see no problem in fitting it...since I have, once upon a time, swapped caps between a 570 and an even older ThinkPad, can't remember precisely which one.
I normally use eraser caps on all of my machines, and only put the new ones when they go out for sale...this includes my "outgoing" R40 and T42...

THANK YOU!
This opens many a door to me. I can have a purple, blue or black cap now.
I still want glow-in-the-dark day-glo orange and neon green though...

Hi there again.Just thought i would bring up this post again.
Do you still have the trackpoint caps for sale?
The 1 cat tongue and 1 soft rim for $1.00usd +$1.00usd shipping?
What if i want 2 cat tongue's and 2 soft rim's?Or say 3 of each(6 total)?

Which one is the cat tounge? Is it the "Classic dome" on
this page?
I'd probably be interested in a pack for my 600x. Thanks.

I use the same caps on my T23 und my 360CSE.
Guess that means compatibility goes all the way back.
