I feel sorry for the 12 units on the very bottom of each stack of 8. If there weren't any pressure marks on the LCDs, there probably are some now!

And, no, I'm not bidding on these (in case anyone was wondering)!

Well if you bought them at the current price they'd be about $1 a piece, and if you re-sold them for $5 a piece, people would love you, and you'd make back 5X your initial investment. This doesn't include shipping, of course. I'd take a few of them, though.

I can just see the land lord now.......When the truck backs up in the driveway and drops off a "Skid" load of Thinkpad laptops.

I hardly have room here now for the few laptop i have.

Yeah, shipping is where this deal could flip upside down...HOWEVER, the dealer is a US seller posting this on the eBay.ca. Hmmmm...I wonder how long a drive it is from my house to Columbus, Ohio....

Can't someone buy this who is nearby and then we can all share....

if i had any idea what to do w/that many laptops i would prolly bid on it. I'm in Akron Ohio so it would be a couple hour drive, would make a day out of it though and have some fun in the city.

Actually when I shortened the original URL I also checked to see if it was listed at ebay.com. It is. The seller has specified that he's willing to ship to US and Canada.

Local pickup is only a $10 fee. Anyone in OH with a 1/2 ton pickup? Of course, that will also incur the 6.75% sales tax.

I wonder how much a 500+ pound pallet would cost if shipped via UPS :) ?

edit: UPS.com would not allow me to calculate the cost. However, FedEx 3-day Freight is $1848! This is with an estimated weight of 500 lbs., 40x40x30 box and $200 value, all probably on the low side.

don't expect this auction to stay this low in price....it will climb...depending upon how much this guy actually charges for shipping....

Shouldn't they have said "skiP" instead of "skiD"?
That's an awful lot of junk IMHO.

"One man's junk is another man's treasure". Not that I would want this stuff mind you... :)

He would probably have better success selling them in lots of 10. The logistics alone on shipping/receiving a skid of laptops would kill the deal for most people. 10 auctions for 9/10 laptops each would be much easier to sell and ship one would think.

Not even close, IMHO. I would love to have every single one of them, and I DO have the room for them......well, ok, maybe not in the coffin that my wife would bury me in, but I would in my downstairs office.

Here's another one for those interested in T22/T23 parts:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0124291206

edit: To save some time/work for any interested party considering this lot:

All 2648 models

12 T23s; 2 LU8, 5 AU5, 3 NU7, 2 AU7
14 T22s; did not check S/N for type
1 T21 (?) S/N was not found in warranty search

All T23s have 1.13GHz CPUs, factory WiFi and XGA screens (for those systems that still have a screen attached). Have fun bidding (I will not be involved in this one either).

Auction closed at $1422. Estimating FedEx shipping at $700 (Columbus, OH to Detroit, MI using figures I guessed at before) puts the cost per laptop at $22. If the buyer goes to get them himself, then add in about $60-$80 for gas (400 miles at 17MPG and $3/gal; $3.65 for premium here in San Jose, CA  ).

I noticed something: the guy who won the first auction has a bid on the T23 auction too. I wonder what he gonna do with so many thinkpads - build a house made of thinkpads maybe? :D :D

Eek! Good eyes! Maybe that's to balance out all of the 600X systems that are in the first auction :) .

I had done some probing into the winner's bidding history and saw that this is not the first time he's bought "parts/repair" systems, although this far outpaces what he's paid before. He has also sold a couple of laptops so he must be trying to earn a few bucks by refurbing these systems.

Maybe someone should e-mail the guy and tell him about this forum. And that it could be a good place to unload a nice few of the thinkpads.

For anyone who is still interested in those 27 T22/T23 units, the original auction was a victim of a hijacked account and has been relisted at:
