T41 LCD Broke :(

#1 Post by pukyta » Thu Oct 07, 2004 10:38 am

Hello everyone
My first time here, unfortunately with some bad news, my T41 LCD screen broke last week cuz my husband placed his knee on top of the screen that was hidden under a blanket. Any suggestions where I can find a decent LCD 14.1 T41 screen?? I already tried calling IBM but they want WAYYYYYYYYYY too much money for a new one, tried E-BAY but they really don't have many LCD Screens for T 40 series. Any suggestions?? My poor computer is bleeding now  Please help!!!!!

I would take the display out of the lid. Find the manufacturers' number, which will be on the back of the display. As long as you match this number it doesn't matter what notebook it came out of, it will work in your
notebook as long as you use your inverter and LCD cable.

Do you have homeowner's or renter's insurance? Check with them, they may cover the damage.

If not, you could always take hubby to small claims court. ''

I want to thank all of you who have helped with your advices. I really needed to know if there were any solution besides spending 700 on a new LCD. Any more suggestions are welcome.

you dont worry first, and you can look for it on ebay.com;

however, there is not always the cheaper lcd
on ebay

and you need some time to catch one good chance.

good luck! :D

I found one on the internet 400 + shipping. Better than 700 but it still a little high. If any of you know any websites or places that we could get I WILL REALLY APPRECCIATE IT!!
Gracias amigos!!!!

There are several businesses that sell replacement parts for Thinkpads. Try these links below, and hopefully you might find the right one for the right price.

http://www.acsparts.com/

http://www.bluestarusa.com/

http://www.starcomps.com/

http://www.thinkpadmedic.com/default.asp

I haven't had a look at these sites for display prices, but no harm in checking with them by calling or emailing them.

Pukyta,

What resolution is the 14.1" display you're looking for? XGA or SXGA+?

Pukyta,

I haven't been able to break the $450 barrier yet at my usual sources, which is bizarre as I just bought a 14.1" SXGA+ display for a T21 for $200!

I'll let you know if I come across anything.
