Looking to buy 2 x 1gb pc5300... Newegg has some corsair valueram at 49.00 each but I'm not sure about quality or timings. Dont want to actually slow down the laptop w/ slower timings ya know.

A co-worker of mine is using a Corsair 1GB CL5 PC2-5300 in his 15.4" T60p with no problem.

I just bought the 2x1gb kit off ZipZoomFly for $87.

Thought about getting the 2 1gb sticks w/ rebates, but oh well, I hate dealing with rebates.

I'd go ahead and buy them, personally. Corsair's certainly one of the best.
