Are these for Thinkpads or are they "universal"?

They are " universal " but they should work fine on any newer thinkpad, the prices are incredible for 2 gigs.

Only for DDR2. PC2700 prices haven't changed much in the last year.

MY take on it is:
There was a $20.00 mail in rebate. YMMV but my experience with mail in rebates is not so great. I figure on not getting the rebate.
These are universal fit so they are not guaranteed compatibility. I can buy the guaranteed compatibility set for $12.00 more. $12.00 is not much more to know they will work correctly. Incompatible memory can cause anything from not booting to undefinable flakyness.

Looks like it is sold out already. So now it is all just conjecture anyway. :?

If you don't mind dealing with rebates, you can also buy Corsair DDR2-667.

$29.99AR at Newegg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820145012

$27.00AR at ZipZoomFly
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDe ... Code=90054

If you want two, you'll have to buy from both places because each rebate is "limit one". They are different offer #'s so you should be able to get both rebates.

Last night, they also had Crucial DDR2-533 for $19.99AR at ZZF, but now sold out.

The low prices of DDR2 is the main reason I got a T43 instead of a T42.

I have been keeping an eye on the Crucial 2gb kit (1gbx2) for mt T60. http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts. ... pe+2623%29
Every second thursday it goes down almost $20.00. It is almost half the price it was when I started watching. No rebates, free shipping, guaranteed compatibility.
