Hi. All,
I'm wondering my T42 system board just dead, and considering to find a working one to replace. Any comment would be appreciate (eg. price range, model etc). Will it every difficult to replace myself?
Thanks.

I'm taking the liberty of assuming a couple of things here:

a) That the machine is out of warranty
b) That you've never replaced a system board by yourself.

Having said that, my opinion is that :
a)finding a MB will set you back a nice piece of change (unless you get lucky on this forum) and
b) replacing a MB for the first time should be supervised by someone who's done it and knows how it's done.

Given the amount of money & time that all of this is likely to consume, you're better off parting the machine and eBaying it, then adding a few bucks and getting a decent T42 with some warranty left-the prices have gone down tremedously so. And you may be surprised what some (possibly knowledgeable or just gambling-prone) people are willing to pay for a dead T42 shell...

Feel free to PM me if you feel that I can be of any further assistance to you in this unfortunate matter.

All the best.
