WTB: a nice R50p for $600 shipped or less (BOUGHT!)

#1 Post by pianowizard » Sun May 20, 2007 3:21 pm

It's about time I played with an R-series Thinkpad! I am only interested in the R50p. If you have one for sale for around $600 shipped or less, please drop me a PM. Thanks!

(Please do NOT email me because I get hundreds of spam everyday and your email would get buried by them. PM is preferred.)

UPDATE: I bought one on eBay! My T60 is now up for sale locally.

Anyone? I really really want an R50p! Owners, don't you want to sell your R50p and get one of those fancy new T61's or R61's?

Good luck with that one...I see that there are only 2 listed on eBay...and only one of them is close to what you want to spend...

You could also consider a high end R50 non-p.

Model 1836-3SU, for instance, has a/b/g, BT, SXGA+ 15", Radeon 9000 32mb video, etc.

They're nice and much less than the p's when available.

I think that pianowizard is looking for the high resolution, and 128mb video card that comes with the R50p.

I was just offering up an alternative because I agree that with those high prices for an R50p, why not just grab this T42p!?

Oh my goodness, this T42p is insanely tempting! But I must resist because my craving for an R50p is stronger!

That is a nice option, the high end non-p R5x's were very nice machines and well priced.

Thats an amazing deal. I am thinking of getting this for my brother. I was initially thinking of a 14" SXGA+ T42, but this price is great. Thanks underclocker.

Sorry, Sri...that baby's gone with the wind...and with a good reason...the price was ridiculous for a machine of these specs...

Why pay from your bank account anyway? It's much safer to Paypal from a credit card, and you can also save some money if the credit card gives you some form of cashback. For this T42p, my Discover or Visa card would give me $7.09 cashback.

Being a measly (international) student, it'll take a while to up my credit limt to those amounts

Bought one on eBay! It was expensive ($700 shipped), but with very good specs:

P M 1.7GHz, 1GB (2x512MB) RAM, 60GB 7200rpm HDD, 15 UXGA(1600x1200) TFT LCD, 128MB ATI FireGL T2, CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner, IBM 802.11a/b/g wireless(MPCI), Bluetooth/Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, 9 cell Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro

I already have a QXGA LCD for it. I think I still need to buy an inverter and an LCD cable, and then I can swap the LCDs and experience 170.7 DPI resolution! (And then go blind LOL!!!)

This massive monster will definitely serve as desktop replacement and will never leave my desk. It will replace my current T60. It's a downgrade in several ways: slower CPU, smaller and slower RAM, smaller HDD. But it's an upgrade in terms of HDD speed, graphics memory size, DVD-R, and of course display resolution!

Awesome. Someone is selling the LCD cable you need in the marketplace - it's listed with a bunch of other parts for sale - only $9.

That SOMEONE is Bonistic. And he is one of the BEST sellers on this board (and I know saying something like that doesn't come lightly, considering the company we all keep).

You can't go wrong w/ doing business with him.

Wow, that's awesome! $9 is $10 cheaper than my other source. I love both you and Bonistic! And thanks Brent for endorsing Bontistic -- I've sent him a PM.
