X31 batteries can be pretty easily found on eBay, in like-new condition. Unless you are looking for something really cheap (which tends to equate to much shorter battery life) I'd recommend you look there.

I found this battery on eBay, but i'm not sure what to make of it..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... AQ:US:1End

----
i emailed the seller and asked how much they thought the battery would last under "normal" conditions, i.e web browsing, word processing, wireless, etc

the reply was vague at best:
Thanks for your inquiry!! Battery life can vary greatly under
different conditions, so it's very hard to say what kind of life to
expect. It is safe to say that absolute worst case this battery would
last more than 1:30. Thanks...

Wow. I went to look on eBay, and there are tons of non-OEM X31 batteries now (I hadn't looked for quite some time), but not a lot of authentic ones -- and those ones cost $150+.

One option would be to get the used one, and if it turns out to be in rough shape, send it to batteryrefill.com, who charge about $50 to put in new cells (but keep the original IBM electronics).

I ordered one of these batteries for my X30 and have no issues...it holds a good charge and the prices are OK:

One last note -- I noticed that Lenovo does still offer brand-new X3 batteries. If you use the Visa offer (http://www.usa.visa.com/personal/discounts/ or http://www.visaperks.ca/) the cost is about $100 -- not cheap, but horrible, either.
