From the very same collection as T42P(s), A22P and 600 listed in the posts below comes an outstanding example of the top-of-the-line A31P. This is the strongest base configuration that you could get (in the respect of processor, wireless and BT) once they were new. The machine is in close to immaculate condition, at least 9 out 10.

Product: ThinkPad A31p 2653-R9U [change]
Operating system: All [change]

Original description: P4-M 2GHz, 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD, 15 UXGA(1600x1200) TFT LCD, 16x10x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD, Modem(MPCI), Ethernet(CDC), Wi-Fi wireless(MPCI), IEEE 1394, IBM Secure Chip(TCPA), Bluetooth(CDC), TV out, Li-Ion battery, WinXP

This one will come with 1Gb (2x512) of RAM. Your choice of combo drive, or separate DVD-ROM and CD-RW (that's how it's configured right now) and 60Gb/5400rpm Seagate HDD. FDD included either way.I'll also include a Broadcomm wireless B/G card that is supposed, according to some sources, to work on this machine type without 1802 hack.

Asking $550 firm plus reasonable shipping depending on where you are. I'll ship for free to lower 48 states and Canada if you pay by check or money order. I ship worldwide.

cynic's corner:
Q: Being an A31P buff that you are, how come you're not keeping this for yourself?
A: Way too nice of a machine-condition wise. I picked up a far-worse-looking (quite a few cracks in the plastic) beefed-up 2654-CTO that has no BT but serves my purposes much better. I've got a pair of 4-year old twin boys with past history of destroying laptops, apart from the fact that I'm a slob and a smoker, so my machines age fast-that's why I change them so often.
Q: Isn't that too steep of a price for an A31P?
A: Ten weeks ago I sold one like this with 1.5Gb RAM and 80 Gb HDD for $700 + shipping to Switzerland, and it was nowhere near this shape. Right now there's one on eBay for $510 with almost 19 hours to go...and generally, they've been sold for $450 or better regardless of shape. And this one is as nice as they come, period.

Feel free to PM me for high-resolution pictures, or with any questions and concerns.[/b]

Hi George.

If you had been 24 hours earlier in posting, I would have bought yours, no questions asked. Looks like an exceptional machine, and was always on my "must-have" list of A31p's.

Alas, I guess I'll just have to try and MAKE DO with Stevenh's A31p and THAT BEAUTIFUL IBM NEW-IN-THE-BOX 1600x1200 UXGA SCREEN AND MOTHERBOARD that comes with it!! ':P' (Sorry - couldn't help myself!!)

I'm sure fellow T-Padders with an eye for quality will snap your up shortly, but if it's still hanging around in another month when I can afford it, I'd be glad "to take it off your hands" at your price.

Regards. Dave.

P.S. Can appreciate the 4-year old twin boy situation.. My 4-year old grandson used a baseball bat on the screen of my wife's A22m. Not a pretty site afterwards. (screen or grandson!)

I've never thought I'd have to bump this one but, hey, what do I know.

And for those interested int this information: no, I'm NOT lowering the price on this one-now or ever!

All the best.

I bet some people stopped reading when they saw "256MB RAM" in the Original Description. It may help if you just change it to "1GB (2x512MB) RAM"
