Seems to me 'tis always us on this side, the right side or whatever of the Atlantic that have trouble getting the good second hand deals. Perhaps because laptops in Europe and Denmark in particular are so expensive cause of the VAT, and that is tought to have to pay when receiving a nice 2nd hand deal from ie the states. Only way to do without the VAT 'lash' is buying something from already within the EU.

so....with these words....

I'd like to get my hands on a t60 or t61 with warranty and high res screen, but hate to pay a gigantic VAT here in Denmark.
(must have warranty 2+ yrs, very good batterytime, no dead pixel)
Therefore buying from a EU seller would solve this prob. Anyone in Europe want to sell?

Anyone know some good [internet deals] from European internet shops? (with english homepage version)

I couldn't agree more with you! Why is the Thinkpad-life so hard to us poor fellows, over here? But: Why do you rule out trading from the US; most T60's (if not all? check for yourself!) comes with international three-year carry-in warranty, so trading from Europe or USA shouldn't be different in this respect? Insured shipping from the USA to e.g. Denmark is about $ 60 - that still makes it possible to obtain much cheaper prices, compared to here!

What exactly (or "minimum") are you looking for - since you don't seem to have considered Dimitri_P's offer --> here? I don't think you are able to get a T60 much cheaper than that; at least not if it has first been subject to Danish or European VAT and taxes!

Anyway, please let us know if you find any interesting Thinkpad-shops in Europe! Perhaps check ebay.co.uk or ebay.de and the German forum, in particular their Marktplatz.

I had not seen Dimitris offer, will for sure consider it, as it is what I have been lookin for. Will probably wait til a t61 will match those specs since it has sum features I would like. I'll as Dim if he can supply. The t6x models were listed in order to pod the envirmonment for newest brands and makes.

I suppose you're right on the insurance part and will definately just look up a serious sellers serial no for warranty status before a buy.

As a Dane, how does this VAT thing here happen? (I mean, how do the authorities deal decide to charge me 20% ? is it just from the declared value on the package? Are you charged everytime? or do some packages get through without...Let's say if they were giftwrapped?

Anyway us two Danish w(h)i(e)ners are still looking to hear from some other Eurpeans that know of good shops and perhaps other thinkpad sellers or ways to get around the sky-high prices of thinkpads here in Denmark.
