LF: R50/T40 Keyboard and P M CPU *COMPLETED*

Thought I'd check here first before I start nosing around ebay. I'm looking for a keyboard for my R51. I have one with a broken "ear" that holds the bases of the folding mechanism which the actual key is attached. So the keyboard doesn't need to be perfect and doesn't even need to have all the keys, just all the little metal pieces be in good shape so that all the key CAN attach.

Also, does any of you upgraders out there have a P M laying around you like to get rid of? Something in the order of 1.5 maybe?

Thanks anyway, but I don't think so. I just had a R40 that I was reworking for someone and it was enough different that it doesn't look like it'd work. I have a T30 as my everyday machine and it's kb doesn't look compatible to the R51.

This forum member is selling both items that you seek for very good prices -> http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=42830

(I'd confirm the keyboard is for an R5x with your size LCD, but I think you have a 14" and I think this is for a 14" unit.)

Thanks Ed,

I sent a PM about it. I do have a 14" unit, but I wasn't aware that there's a difference between the KBs... I thought it was just the bezel around it. In any case, I'll look it up in the HMM. By the way, you wouldn't happen to what the difference between the connectors of optical drives of the UB2K and UB-enhanced, do you? It seems that although they are both 12.7mm, the connectors aren't compatible any more.

The 14" and 15" units have different keyboards. They may very well be identical except for the location and quantity of screw posts - the 14" has four locations, the 15" has three locations.

Very different connectors on the 2000 and Enhanced drives. It's possible that if you remove the 2000 connector there will be an Enhanced connector (which is really just the default connector for most manufacturers), but I've never tried this. For some reason I also thought that the Enhanced drives were slightly slimmer than the 2000 drives. The ultra slims are very thin (from the T4x and T6x series) but do fit in the Enhanced bays, too.

For more confusion, see this link -> http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/UltraBay

If you need a basic Enhanced CD drive, eBay sometimes has them in the $10 range.

I have a 1.7GHz Banias that is pulled from my T41p. I was holding on to it in case I needed to send the machine in. Now that my warranty has expired I have no further use for it.

send me a PM or respond here if interested.

Thanks for letting this user know about my sale. I replied to the PM so hopefully we will have a happy camper soon! I also have an ultraby enhanced drive...maybe he is interested in that too?
