[SOLD] X21 + UltraBase w/ CD-ROM, $160 shipped to U.S.

Up for sale is an excellent-condition IBM Thinkpad X21 “ultraportable” laptop, with the docking station (which has a CD-ROM drive and a floppy drive) included. With the docking station detached, the laptop weighs only 3.47 lbs! The reason I am selling this great laptop for so cheap is that the microphone doesn’t work. Other than that, this machine works beautifully. The keyboard has no shine at all. The display lid has several subtle scuff marks. The display has a play of about 2 cm (extremely common to the X2* series), but otherwise the hinges are pretty tight. Here are the specifications of this machine:

Thinkpad X21, model 2662-65U

700MHz Pentium III processor

384MB PC100 RAM (maximum supported, upgraded from the original 128MB)

20GB 4200rpm hard drive

12.1” 1024x768 display (in perfect condition: bright, crisp, with zero dead pixels)

CD-ROM drive in docking station (“UltraBase”)

Floppy drive in UltraBase

Ethernet port

Modem

Two USB1.1 ports

Compact Flash reader

One PCMCIA slot

External monitor, headphone, and line-in ports on the laptop, plus parallel, serial and mouse ports on the UltraBase

Battery that holds 39% of the design capacity and lasts for about 1 hour

AC adapter

Certificate of Authenticity for Windows 2000 Professional

Windows 2000 Professional installation CD

Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4 and all updates installed

AVG virus scanner installed

The price is firm. I accept non-CC PayPal.

I might be interested, just had a few questions.

By microphone, do you mean the audio-in? So the audio-out port
still works?

Also, what do you mean by play on the display?

Thanks.

When you attempt to move the screen, you get a little bit of movement with no resistance from the hinges. If you let go of it at that point, it will return to the previous "stable" position. It takes a while before you actually start rotating the hinges.

Right. Both the built-in mic and the mic port don't work, but the headphone port (i.e. audio-out), speakers and line-out work perfectly.

Thanks for the excellent explanation! But once you move the lid beyond this zone of zero resistance, the hinges feel tight.

wow, it's so easy to sell laptops in the $100 - $200 range on the Rhode Island Craiglist! I posted this last night, got tons of responses, and the buyer just picked it up.

For the first time in over four years, I have only six computers!
