Hi all,

I have just ordered a new TP and will sell my current T42 workhorse. I do not know how much I should be asking for. Can anyone kindly help me to price these items? TIA!

Thinkpad T42 and Docking
- Pentium M 1.8G
- 1.5GB RAM (all shipped from IBM)
- 14.1" screen (1400x1050)
- ATI Mobile Radeon 9600, 64MB
- Hitachi 100GB 7200RPM (only few months old)
- (edited - forgot this because don't use it...) slim CD-RW/DVD drive
- IBM 802.11 a/b/g wireless (replaced the original 802.11b only card)
- Bluetooth
- NMB keyboard with the web page forward cap missing
- a brand-new NMB keyboard still in box for replacement
- XP Pro
- IBM security chip
- 6-cell (original battery, cycle count= ~120, still holds ~<TBD>Wh)
- 9-cell (cycle count=267, still holds ~52Wh)
- almost dead slim ultrabay battery (cycle count=617, only holds ~3Wh, used as my UPS for safe shut-down or short-travel from office desk to living room)
- T4x Mini-Dock with US/CAN AC power
- set of original TP42 Recovery CD's

Extras
- Hitachi 80GB 7200RPM (used - later replaced by the 100GB HD)
- EDIT - SOLD for $0 (to wife) Hitachi 80GB 5400RPM (original, used, later replaced by the 80G 7200RPM HD)
- BenQ FP209 20" (1600x1200) LCD monitor

I'd say, in general, the conditions of the T42 are fairly good. Can't say it's excellent because, after all, it's been my workhorse for 3 years now.

You'd find the usual almost-invisible scratches (caused by rubbing, carrying, travelling) along the edges of the LCD housing. Also the current (installed) keyboard has one missing cap but a brand-new NMB keyboard replacement is included. There is no wear on the palmrest - because I often use the notebook with an external set of monitor/keyboard/mouse.

In addition,

1) No warranty left on all but the 100GB 7200RPM hard drive.

2) Preference is to sell the TP and docking together.

3) Will sell, if anyone wants to buy, after I get the new workhorse on hand and finish transferring data over. That means, we may be looking at 3~6 weeks turnaround time.

EDIT: (4) Prefer cash deals and will hand deliver to people living in Toronto and GTA area (of Canada). Sorry, I have no eBay, Paypal such things.

EDIT: please lock this post - as I'm not yet ready to sell (probably for a few more weeks before my new notebook comes).

Wow, that is a very nice machine...pics will help, but the description says alot. You might be in the $550-650 range...

Edit: missed the "extras"...that certainly changes the price...but if you have a new system on the way, why wouldn't you want to keep the LCD Monitor? The extra hard drives can be good for additional storage, or sell them separately.

tfflivemb2, Thanks for your help.

I suppose your suggested prices are in US$?

I'll find some time next week to take a few nice shots (when I get over my current work priority).

I already have too many external HD's (a total of 1TB) under my desk for extra storage and data backup's. Those additional notebook drives have been doing nothing so I may as well just sell 'em.

As for the 20" BenQ LCD, I'm getting the new 24" BenQ LCD so...

For the computer with the dock, I would say the value would be around $600-650. The two batteries and the higher res screen really increase the value to this package. This should sell nicely to the person who is looking for one of these machines.
