I am looking to replace my broken LCD for my T42 xga 14.1 inch. If anyone has one to sell at a reasonable price. Please let me know. Also I am trying to find some link that will show me how to remove and replace my t42 lcd(pictures). I have been told it is allot easier to repace the topcase instead of the lcd alone. I dont see any T42 topcase, mostly t40.

The xga top case assm for a T40 could be the same as a T42 as long as the screen sizes are the same. (verify part numbers in the second link below). You'd have to swap the clearplate too. Make sure the replacement has all of the internal antenna leads as your T42.
See here for LCD removal instructions -

I have an SXGA+ screen with a non-working backlight for sale a few posts below, so if you are willing to change the backlights between the two you might be able to use that. As for LCD removal, the Hardware Maintanance Manual (check FAQ) has instructions on pretty much everything repair related.

I have a spare 14.1" XGA screen from a dead T41.
No dead pixels, dark areas or scratches, but when the screen is off you can see some imprints from keys. It doesn't bother me, but I'll take a few pictures when I next get a chance.
