Like in Pascall's case, you will often find warranties lasting the full 3 years. This happens with about 50% of the computers. If you want us to check for you before ordering, just call us and we will run the Serial number by lenovo and see what they have to say...

Or warranties that already expired, like in my case.

My T41p was listed with an S-claim class. However there are numerous pressure marks all over the screen and have been there since day 1. IBM does not want to repair the machine saying it's user induced, yet they were there when I got the machine.
Also, I have yet to receive anything about my mack warranty even though I contacted Thinkpadworld through e-bay about this around 2 weeks ago.
Maybe I have been wrong in so vehemently defending them. I will call Maurice.

If you ever have a problem just call 212-965-1420.. We are here resolving problems all day. Laptops are complex pieces of hardware with hundreds of parts.. perfection is impossible when dealing with IBM Certified Used merchandise.

If the seller is so quick to say that perfection is impossible, that sounds like a stock answer for all his complaints.
I would personally stay away. Obviously there are problems with the refurb units.

Perfection is hard yes.
However my screen is far less than 'acceptable'
I no longer can pull up the listing, but it was an S-class claim. I also had to buy a new battery to replace the one you guys shipped that had only 30% capacity left.

Well, that's kind off you. If some members of my forum want to buy a Thinkpad from ThinkPad Wrold, I will tell them to contact you to check for Lenovo warranty. Mack warranty works in Europe but it's much harder then to get in touch with IBM. IBM support tells me that most T series P are world wide warranty.

Thank you Maurice for your work at ThinkPad World witch allow me to have a nice T60p with every things I want.

There's problems with new-sealed units too sometimes. What matters is that the vendor and/or manufacturer provide the customer with some recourse for those few instances where a problem exists. He's given a phone # for such a situation and indicated they're interested in handling it. That's a good start, I think.

New machines can have all the problems in the world. IBM can and will handle them.
As to refurbs, they are "supposed" to have been factory re-built to new specs.
People have posted above that they got units with defects, no warranty, and no help from the vendor.
Now I don't think that a seller is responsible for repairs, as long as there is no mis-representation. However, if the warranty status is not as advertised, then that is a big big problem.
Every unit I sell that is under warranty is supplied with a warranty status printout, done the day of shipping. that way, there is no possible mis-understanding about who is responsible for what.
That does not seem to be the case with ThinkPad world. Maybe after posting here he will clean up his act.
Remember, what is says here does not matter, it is pure BS. What the posters who had problems with him say is what matters.

I am probably going to regeret this buutttt, It seems to me that thinkpadworld is trying to be responsive to their customers by posting Telephone numbers and responding to issues. I am not surprised that scosgt1 wouldn't but from him, after all he sells Thinkpads too. I don't see how sellers and resellers sniping at each other furthers this discussion.

I am not sniping at him. Several posters here have complained about bad experiences with that seller. It sounds to me like he is posting here to generate business. We are NOT competitors at all. He is an authorized IBM dealer, and sells refurbs at prices I could not even imagine getting. I only sell units with IBM warranty, or units as parts only. we are really not in the same business at all.
I just think that one should not be so fast to buy into an explanation when several complaints have been made. No one complains about what I sell, because I won't let them, I properly describe what I sell, and I make sure to make the customer happy no matter what. I don't have to post any excuses.

Just out of curiosity what is your volume compared to his?
If it is far less, then of course you can dedicate more time and energy to superior customer service. It's the nature of the beast. The smaller you are the quicker you are.

I am not going to engage in this any further, everyone has the right to do business anyplace they choose.
I choose to stay away from sellers that get negative complaints about both their products and service.
YMMV
End of discussion for me.

Firstly,
I am not here to generate business... I am here to defend my company from bad publicity because many people believe it is OUR fault for their computers coming in damaged. We sell hundreds of laptops a week, and when dealing with Certified Used merchandise, some will be in perfect Brand New condition and some will be unacceptable. For the damaged machines, you have your IBM Factory Warranty with IBM Global Financing. S-Claim Refubished machines have a 90-Day IBM warranty and L-Claim (New open box) units have a 6 Month IBM Warranty. IBM will use their judgement whether they want to remedy the problem, just like if you were to buy directly from them.
People with negative experiences will tend to complain.
People with positive experience will fail to praise, (except for some cool people on this board)
as you can see from our feedback, keeping 99.1% of our customers happy is something that I am very proud of. thats 9 unhappy customers for every 1,000. We disclose our telephone number and treat all of our customers with curtousy and respect, and always do what we can to keep them happy.
