Looking for Model M-13 black keyboard

#1 Post by pipspeak » Fri Jul 20, 2007 3:02 pm

Yeah, I know. Wishful thinking. But since I write for a living I'm always after the best tools and really like black keyboards. I can get a Model M clone in white for fairly cheap (and black with gray keys, ugh) but I want black, dammit!

Anyone know of a source? Clickykeyboards.com has apparently sold out of just about everything on the site. Only white Model-Ms seem to be available on ebay. Not sure where else to look.

Let me know if you have one or know where I might find one.

Nice find... hadn't checked ebay today. And yes, crazy price. I bet the current bid is from the seller. There's a camo-colored M13 (circa 1988) for $60, too. That's more reasonable.

Guess I'll just keep searching fleabay. Where did you get your from?

I did find this... http://www.daskeyboard.com/

There are a couple on eBay where the seller wants nearly $400!!!
I bought mine around 5yrs ago when they were less well known and in less demand. I think I just searched Google for the FRU 13H6705 and bought the cheapest one that came up.

A quick Google search and $95 is the cheapest I could come up with.

I think this is the only piece of computer hardware I've ever owned that's actually appreciated in value since I bought it!

I love the Model M's. In addition to the M13, I have 3 white ones, two 90's ones with the oval logo (one w/blue text, one w/gray text) and an 80's one with the square metal logo and large 5-pin DIN connector.

Thanks... never thought of simply googling the FRU. Doh!

Got that one for $95, which seems about the going price. No idea if it's new or a refurb. We'll see.

Now I'll keep my eyes peeled at garage sales.
