DON'T buy a used battery off e-bay (or anywhere else for that matter). Similarly, a "new" (usually means NOS or New Old Stock) battery from an internet store could be a couple of years old even if it's never been used.

I've had bad luck with "new" batteries so I recently tried batteryrefill.com and have been very pleased with their prices and product. I'd give them a try.

I am asking this forum because I am very weary about getting a battery from eBay; I figured someone may have a few laying around they're willing to sell.

I figure here I can get the details (remaining charge, cycles, etc.) that are almost never listed on auctions.

Edit: also, I have heard very bad things about that battery refilling store, check out their ResellerRatings reports.

Syedj is a 1000% trustworthy, and if he says the battery tests are OK, you're all set...I've bought both small and big stuff (from recovery disks to T42) from him and have always been beyond pleased...

Yes, I saw this but I figure for every complaint posted, there are probably 100 or more satisfied customers who don't complain. It DID take them about 3 weeks to return my battery so you have to have a "plan b" in place (AC?) but, like I said, I have been much happier with this place than the internet stores selling older model batteries.

I've been PMing people about all these, so check your Inboxes.

With so many to choose and new ones popping up so often, it's gonna be a tough choice :)

Just doing a follow-up.

My battery has 68/77 remaining charge, and IBM and Windows report 3-5 hours during normal usage. I'm pleased as punch. :D Much better than 1 hour.

Thank you again, Verbs!
