Maybe a month ending blow out...
Newegg still has them for over $250....not like Newegg to be higher than Zipzoomfly. This is the only item I have really ever seen that is lower at Zipzoomfly....

The manufacturer part # is 0A50938 mentioned in the site, which is a 120GB HDD. Is this a deliberate mistake??? Only 0A50940 is the 200GB Version.

If that's true then does anybody want to buy 5-6 of these 120GB drives off me? Only $149 + shipping each!

Well, at least I copied the web pages fully describing the 200GB model so at the very least I'm out the return shipping unless I can pressure them to provide that too due to the error.
If it seems too good to be true...

Carefully checked the specs before listing here and making my purchase. Hopefully they honor their sale.
I was holding out so well until I checked the price earlier yesterday.
If not I will probably return them if they are not what they say they would be.

The model number listed on the description matches the 200GB drive, as does every word on the rest of the description, spec, and warranty sections. I printed them all to pdf. Only the part number references a different drive (the 120GB). One word. When every single buyer of this drive starts calling to return them it might be best for ZZF to just let them all stay in their new homes. Otherwise they will have lost shipping costs both ways and the loss of profit having to sell dozens of these as opened returns likely with a 30-day warranty, in addition to the loss of happy customers who will now look elsewhere first for their needs. Of course all that is wishfull thinking on my part, but in my experience I've found once a merchant shipped me a product they are much more likely to stand by their ad than not. I'll know by Monday for sure!

Please post when you receive yours as will I.
I am looking forward to try this new speed demon and was waiting for the price to drop. Did the price drop or not we will have to wait and see.

Looks to me like people will probably get the 120GB version since the 200GB one is still listed for $219.99.

It couldn't possibly be a real price drop as that would throw the market off way too much. I mean, where would all the other drives have to fall in line to compete for sales? You'd have the 100GB 7K200 priced near $69, then where do they price the 60GB & 80GB 5400rpm and 4200rpm drives ($29, $19)? Until smaller drives disappear from the market in a year or so this drive will likely be priced over $200 in my opinion.

ZZF called yesterday and left a message to check your email regarding your order.
Didn't get an email.
Order still listed as processing.

Are the 120GB and 200GB models discussed here the same speed/cache etc? Is the smaller one refered to as a model 7K120?

It's still a 7K200 -- the series number indicates the max capacity.
The performance is close, but maybe 20% below the 200 GB (and 100 GB!) models due to lower areal density.

tomh009, thanks for the information. I suppose the performance increase is the main reason why everyone is jumping through hoops to get the 200GB model. Personally I'd never need a drive that large in a laptop.

The 100GB model will give you the same performance (it uses a single platter rather than two, with the same areal density) if you don't need 200 GB.
Personally I don't mind the extra space.

They also have, different part number though, what looks like the same drive for $239?
These less expensive drives must be less capacity like has been mentioned in this thread.
Just labeled incorrectly.
Oh well...

Well, yes, the $139 units are just mislabeled. Thanks for correcting me. Oh well, so much for the excitement for the day. Hey, look! A cat that talks dog!
And you are welcome!

So, I am just curious what happened to the orders that were placed? Did 120GB arrive or the 200GB? Did they offer any swaps/discounts/coupons to compensate for the mistake?
TIN.

Mine arrived last week, and it is indeed a 120GB 7k200. I was not too happy about the misrepresentation, so I sent ZZF an email-but I have yet to hear a response from them. Not sure what I will do, but I do have a T61p on order that could definitely use the drive.

I'm looking for the 100Gb version - anyone find it?
It supposedly was on NewEgg, but the listing was removed
