The subject says it all...

Looking for a nice R52. I'll look at an upgraded R50 or R51 as well, providing the specs meet the requested level.

Mobile 1.8 GHz or better
128 Video RAM
15" SXGA+ Flexview
XP professional

You'll be shipping to The Netherlands
Looking for something around $400.- / $550.- + shipping, actual offer depending on the specs and overall condition.

I don't care too much about the HD, 'though I won't shy away form a nice 7200rpm.
Same goes for the RAM, 2Gb is great but empty is fine too.
The video RAM is more important, I want 128 but I'll consider 64 if the processor is fast enough.

No software required.
Dead pixels are a show stopper.
Recovery disks are appreciated.

ajkula66 has a R50p for sale here in the Marketplace - that's the only way you'll get a R5x series laptop with the 128MB video you're looking for. It's just above the upper level of your budget by $25 and only has a 1.7GHz CPU (which should make lettle to no difference) but I'd say that it's an option worth exploring.

We already PM'd about it, it's just that it's the lowest spec'd machine I'd considder and it's -ok, just- above my highest offer.
I managed to not-buy the same(!) R52 with a 2.0GHz processor twice(!) on this forum, and I basically now want one that comes close enough to that one to make me happy.

I am a bit reluctant to lower the CPU spec.
I often run Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator at the same time and my T41 (1.4GHz, 2Gb) just grinds to a halt.
I know it's a bit much at the same time, but sometimes I have no choice.
Trading a 1.4GHz for a 1.7GHz seems too little improvement, although I agree that a 1.7GHz probably will run near to the performance a 1.8GHz delivers.
But if it all makes that little difference, I'd prefer a 1.9 or a 2.0...

Let's see what pops up.

That R50p's display, UXGA Flexview, is better than what you're asking for. The difference between a 15.0" SXGA+ Flexview and a 15.0" UXGA Flexview is probably $50 to $80.

The CPU can be upgraded easily and for not much money.

You're right, I wrote that TP off to soon.
I'm rehaggeling about this machine...
Its just that I'm not clever enough to replace a CPU myself, wouldn't know what to do next if something unexpected happened. But perhaps I can get my hands on a faster CPU that a seller is willing to put into the TP he sells.

We'll see.

Yes, you are. Hardware shops make a ton of money with people who think CPU replacement is some kind of open heart surgery. Well, while it basically is open heart surgery, there is really not too much that can go wrong. Things can get ugly if the interior of a unit is poorly designed and everything is crammed and twisted inside, but this is certainly not the case wit a TP R model.

If you have the chance, get a <100 EUR/USD barebone or oldie and try upgrading/fixing it. Not only will such skills save you a ton of money, it's also a lot of fun.
