Theres a guy here in my town up here in Canada selling a T41, 14.1" xga,512 ram,40g,1.6ghz.He said where the new thinkpads are well over 1000.00 new , he wants $699.00 and will only drop it like 50.00.

Maybe he can sell it to himself? that means he got the 699 for it and he gets to keep it!!

Is this worth 500? Apparently it has a small smudge on the screen but is only notecable when the laptop is off.

Actually i remember some of the absolutely last T42 models offered for sale were XGA models with MR9600 64MB, there were quite a few models of those, but AFAIK only introduced in the last few months before the T42 was completely phased out of production.
So it's probably a T42 with a lot of warranty left - unless it has been modded of course :)

No but he said he'll replace a 256MB chip with a 1GB ram chip for 1256MB ram. is it worth 500 though...??

I was thinking of offering 450? he's really reluctant on going below 500.

500 with no warranty is just a tad high. If it had 3 months or so of warranty remaining, I would have said 525.
