Good day,

Looking for an IBM Atheros a/b/g or b/g for X31 (no-1802 okay to use)...AR5004G, AR5004X.

Looking for to spend no more than US$26 shipped to Canada.

I have seen a number of these on eBay rather cheaply... some vendors have separate "generic" and "special IBM" listings, so with some smart shopping you may not even need to do the no-1802.

With my X31, I installed a cheap Broadcom-based (e.g. neither Intel nor ThinkPad/Atheros) a/b/g wireless mini-PCI card I got from eBay, and after the no-1802 it worked fine fine. However as I couldn't use the IBM drivers, the little wireless LED on the front panel didn't light up. (The system originally had a Cisco 802.11b adapter in it)

That being said, after doing some research on wireless cards, I probably should have spent a little extra for an Atheros one. No big deal though, the Broadcom was only about $10 anyway :P

Right on. I've been searching ebay and the best price I can get there is ~$30 shipped for an Atheros/IBM one. I saw someone sell some b/g's here a few days ago for $26 shipped and they went FAST! So just putting my interest out there cuz I seem to be slow on jumping new sales.

I know how it feels to miss a deal... I've also just missed out on a chance to grab an Atheros a/b/g/n card for my X60 :( Those things are hard to find, at any price!

Fortunately for you the X31 (with no-1802) can accept a wide variety of cards, so one is sure to pop up cheaply soon :)
