I will be in New York City for a day next Thursday to meet with a colleague at Columbia Univ. If anyone has something to sell then, please let me know and I might want to buy it from you in person.

UPDATE: I will be staying in NYC for most of October. I hope to buy something during that period!

What exactly are you looking for? I have a bridge if you are interested.

I don't have anything specific to look for. A few examples of what I might want to buy are:

Any cheap complete or almost complete Thinkpad, e.g. a <$600 non-UltraLight X60s, <$200 T40, <$200 X31, <$80 240X, <$50 600X, etc.

1GB PC2700 SODIMM for <$50

cheap AC adapters, especially an X-series one for <$10

12.1" SXGA+ LCD panel

14.1" SXGA+ cable and inverter for the T60

etc. etc.

Just tell me what you have!

UPDATE: I may also need to sublet an apartment room that's near Columbia University in the last week of September and first week of October. Please let me know if you have one!

If you are unable to sublet and you need a hotel room you might do well by going to a suburb like Stamford and taking MetroNorth. You may be able to get a room for as little as $50 on Priceline.

Which one and how much? If it's cheap enough, I'll buy it and rename it after me.

Like I said, I would like to buy anything that's cheap and interesting. Thinkpads, bridges, condos, wife (needs to be between 24 and 34 years old), etc.

I like where this is going.

There is a sale on wives....some are being given away....even redheads (Bill are you listening?).

Any takers?

Well, since you asked, here goes:

1 PC2-5300 1gb PNY stick of ram (42 bucks on newegg) 20 bucks OBO
Used it for a week

1 gig PNY flash drive with original cap and Best Buy neck strap - 10 OBO

Homeade 60 gig external hard drive (2.5 inch IDE drive, Hitachi I think) 40 (Made it last week, Hard drive is new, USB powered)

Logitech MX1000 laser wireless mouse with stand, used for a week - 30 OBO

Pioneer car audio deck, CD player, just the head unit, 50 watts - 40 OBO

17 inch Dell flat screen monitor with a 4 port usb 2.0 hub, with a swiveling stand. 1280 x 1024 resolution - 120 (1704FPT)

3 week old Nokia N80 Internet Edition Phone in black, with box, manuals, CDs, 2 leather cases, headphones, 200

2 1982-1991 BMW 3 series AFMS, 10 for one, 20 for the nice one

1 month old Canon SD 1000 with 2 gb SD card and leather camera case, all mint with box and manuals, used twice, 200

1 year old Canon Rebel XT, 18-55 mm lens, original strap, one 2 gig compact flash, one 1 gig compact flash, Original box and manuals. Hardly ever used. 550

Google any of the stuff on top for the specs, I only buy the best of the best (it's why I buy thinkpads, Hondas, BMWs, Canon, etc...) The reason I need to sell it is to pay off my credit card bill on the books I just bought, and I don't need all this stuff...

Mind you, this is only stuff that I see immediately around me at the moment. There is probably more.

Oh, IBM Leather Attache case, 5 months old, no cosmetic damage to the leather, the inside is pristine. Really nice, but a bit much for a college student I think. 80

Let me know if you want anything, I'm in the city mon-thursday, free after 3 on mon and wed, after 6 tue and thurs. I go to college there.

Please e-mail me for anything at all, I check it 4-6 times a day on the nokia phone I have (also on sale)

eespinal AT Gmail DOT com
Thanks

I have confirmed that I'll be staying in NYC (near Columbia Univ.) from Sep 20th through Oct 8th. If you have something (anything!) to sell during that time period, please let me know!

Hmmm... this is interesting. You live in the States, and you -still- need to ask people to sell you things? :)

OTOH, I visit once a year, and without advertizing, easily find TOO many computer items to purchase!!

That's because you don't have the most unusual taste master pianowizard has...not that I know anyone who does...

The first part of admitting that you have a compulsive Thinkpad parts buying problem is admitting it. Repeat after me "I don't need to buy Thinkpad parts wherever I go". Repeat 100 times. There now, feel better? :)

TPA - Thinkpad Parts Anonymous - 12 Step Program

1.) Never read any threads in Marketplace
2.) Never go over to 'Rays House'
3.) Put Bill Morrow's email address in your spam filter
4.) Remove all Red, Green, and Blue items from the immediate vicinity
5.) Avoid all threads that start with the word FS, WTB, or WTT in the subject field.
6.) Adopt the principle that all Lenovo FRU lists are for ordering replacement parts, not upgrades
7.) Tell your wife about the hidden 'upgrades fund'
8.) Remember, PATA really means - 'Parts Are Taking Away' from my life
9.) Consider the fact that forum.thinkpads.com is really Satans lair... :)
10.) If you dream about a/b/g/n cards, get some help!
11.) If a co-worker brags about a recent laptop upgrade, picture him or her naked
12.) Drink heavily during the first week of withdrawal from 'parts'.

Harry,

Have you tested this approach yourself??? :D

Before or after buying the R52 from underclocker?

Does this also mean "no more maxed-out ThinkPads" from you?

Please let us know...the help is on the way...

A great post, definitely made my day.

All the best.
