Smoking Deals on T42p's - Hurry Up

#1 Post by hopewellz » Mon Sep 24, 2007 8:50 pm

I just received a t42p - 2372 - KTU.. for a bit more than $600.

There is a seller on eBay running 24 hour auctions of top of the line T42ps in mint/reconditioned condition with left over warranties. Some are going for as low as $530. I was doubtful of the true condition of the machines until I opened the box and saw a mint t42p with a brand new case and no indications of any wear at all on it. Not to mention the on site IBM warranty is actually good until 9/2008 as opposed to the advertised 4/08.

Basic specs - 2.0 / 1 gig / 60 gig 7200rpm / 14.1 SXGA / BT / Atheros / DVD Burner.

So far its an awesome machine. True it came sans battery, but I had one around. Hope this helps.

If you're talking about 611computersllc, I know a couple of people who have paid, waited a month without receiving anything and had their money refunded...also know someone who has actually gotten his machine and was quite happy...so these guys are somewhat of a mixed picture...crooks they're not, badly organized (as most things in PA) they likely are...

I'm sorry to hear that your state has such problems. None the less they delivered to me in less than a week. I doubt I would have found as clean of a machine anywhere for any price. Compared to the prices some people want for their aging T42p's these are a great deal.

I think the fact that they only run 24 hour auctions keeps the price down.

Please post a link to one of the open auctions so that others might get in on the fun.

The seller has already been listed in this thread. Just search for him on eBay.

For those of you who think these are 15.0" T42p's with Flexview UXGA, don't get overexcited, because they are 14.1" SXGA+ models. Still pretty good deals though.

EDIT: I just realized that he sold both 14.1" and 15.0" T42p's, although the 15.0" auctions didn't include batteries.

Not true, some of the absolute best deals are made right here where you are currently at!

The seller sold many of them in the last few days:

Sep 24

Sep 23

Sep 23

Sep 20

Sep 20

He currently has nothing to sell, but he might again in the near future, so just keep checking.

I wish that were true, but I spent 2 weeks here looking for similar machine. Some people wanted $800 for a machine with poorer specifications! Others machines had obvious shine on the keyboard, or other defects. Also not too many had any warranty left.

If you want to open my eyes on some deals I missed please go ahead, but what I found were people over valuing old laptops for sentimental reasons!

They can screw up but do the best to fix it

I've bought 4 20" Thinkvision LCDs from 611 on eBay. One arrived as an 18" which they promptly replaced with a 20" L201p, better than the L200p I paid for. They issued a UPS pre-paid postage tag to pick it up. Two of the monitors had longer warranties than advertised.

I just bought another L200p LCD from them that was described as perfect condition - it arrived with some scratches on the case and the one minor one on the screen - when I complained they quickly (and they usually do answer their email quickly) offered either a discount or a full refund including a postage paid pickup by UPS.

This is, sadly, much better than most of the sellers I've dealt with on eBay and I'd buy from them again especially as the short auctions they run often lead to very good prices.

You haven't been on this forum long enough. I've been here for over two yeas and have seen some amazing deals. But if you are looking for a specific item and need it right away, eBay is usually better simply because many more people are selling stuff there.
