It's been a while (probably a couple of years) since I've last sold a working T30...and the times have obviously changed...I do need to lower the number of ThinkPads in my possession and might be putting this one up for sale...

Feel free to participate. I do have a price in my mind, but I don't want to sound ridiculous or completely off-base...

ThinkPad T30 2366-97U

P4-M 2.0GHz (512KB)
256MB RAM.....upgraded to 1Gb (2x512Mb)
60.0GB HDD....upgraded to 60Gb/7200 rpm
14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD,
16x10x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD-ROM,
802.11b Wireless/Modem(MPCI),
Ethernet(LOM),
Bluetooth(CDC),
Secure Chip(TCPA),
UltraNav,
Li-Ion battery,
WinXP Pro

For those of you interested in upgrading the wireless, I'll throw in a (non-IBM) Atheros a/b/g card. Be forewarned that I've updated BIOS to the latest one, and still get the 1802 error even with IBM cards.

Known imperfections:

- Two white (light) pressure marks in the lower right quarter of the screen, one of them quite prominent.
- Missing PCMCIA doors
- Normal wear and tear on the lid. Plastics are actually quite good for machine that is turning five next month.

So...talk to me... or make me an offer I can't refuse...

I recently bought the same one but with the 2.4Ghz CPU for around $325 I think, it is MINT. I really just wanted the CPU
But anyway, I think that's what I paid. 60 gig 5400 HDD, wifi and BT built in.

I would never-not in my darkest hour-underestimate your ability to recognize a good deal when you see it, and this T30 purchase has certainly been one of them...but the input is appreciated, honestly.

If I can't do better than $325 I'll be happy to keep it...

I have three kids that need to become computer savvy, XP is still going to be around for the next couple of years, and if they destroy this T30 in the process, so be it...because they're not coming anywhere near my other oldtimers...

I think (hope) XP will be here for at least 4 more years.
Anyway, you can always install linux on it. Everything works out of the box on a T30.

Trust me, if it were not for the corporate world our children will be growing in, I wouldn't have anything BUT different Linux distros on my machines...

weatherborg, I'm a little surprised I haven't gotten an opinion on the pricing of this baby from you...what happened here??? :D

Talk to me my greenish fellow UXGA addict...

That's a great machine. I had a nice T30 for about a year as a carry around every day all day machine. Seriously sturdy and perfect form factor. It's still alive in my GF's possesion. :)

The problem with the T30 is that darn DIMM slot problem. I have two of them running 24/7 as servers, and they never crash or freeze or have any issues at all. But they are hard to sell because people know about the system board problems and they don't have USB 2
I like them, and usually have 4-5 of them on hand. But you always have to be aware of the likelihood of getting a bad system board. The average T30 seems to be around the $325 asking price on Ebay, those with better specs should of course be more.

Well, this one doesn't have a DIMM slot problem...2x512 and it runs like a deer...runs even better with 2x1Gb, which is what I'm sure you have in your "server" ones...you've given me a GREAT idea what to do with good machines that don't sell...

Anyway, this thread can be closed. The machine has been sold outside of this forum, and is getting packed for a long journey to Ukraine.

Thanks to everyone who has participated. I owe you guys one.

All the best.
