MEM: maxed out original 1 GB + Crucial 1 GB for total of 2 GB PC2700 DDR SDRAM.

LCD: original 14.1" at SXGA+ 1400x1050 resolution, NO dead pixels, scratches or pressure marks, screen protector, ThinkLight to illuminate keyboard in low-light conditions.

REASON FOR SELLING: Required to use machine supplied from work after making this T42p personal purchase, so it has gotten little use. I treat my technology gently and it is near mint that you will think it is new.

... just out of curiosity: Is this (present) T42p the same as this one? If so, potential buyers may perhaps find some useful information in the thread referenced to.

Another curiosity. If the screen is 14.1 inches + bezel how can the whole laptop be 12.2in wide?

Dude, you are kidding I guess?

14.1inch diagonal........not wide........reading is not that hard.

... because the screen dimension, unless otherwise stated, is always measured along the diagonal! This goes for all PC's, all monitors, all TV's etc. OK, but then how to find the diagonal? Apply The law of Pythagoras!

But then - how can a ThinkPad only be 12.2" wide? Simply because it is so awful beautifully designed! If you want to control this statement, kindly have a look here - and you'll definitely be convinced!

This is an outstanding laptop. Period. Someone go get it!!

Hopefully this fine machine will find a new home this time around...by all means an outstanding example of a great ThinkPad model...not too many machines beat T42P if you're looking for a laptop with strong graphic/video capabilities on a 14" LCD...and the processor in question is probably the best combination of speed and reliability within the T4x generation...

I am happy to report that this T42p has been sold!

Congratulations to K. Eric H., a knowledgeable and courteous local buyer who came by my office, inspected the machine thoroughly using PC Doctor, and completed the transaction smoothly early yesterday morning. He mentioned visiting this forum (but am not sure if he posts here), so if you are reading this Eric best wishes in you career and much thanks for giving my T42p a good home!
