Warranty service upgrades and maintenance services

Description:
This product has a special bid three year limited warranty. This product is entitled to parts, labor and on-site repair service (9x5 next business day) in approved locations. Thinkpad batteries have a one year warranty.

This unit DOES NOT inlcude the hard drive or caddy or trim piece. It is otherwise complete and DOES include the UltraBase with DVD drive installed. Installed memory is 512, with one DIMM slot empty. There is NO WIFI CARD. I do have some wifi B cards, and can add one for $30 (my cost). Everything else is complete, just add a hard drive and trim piece, and a wifi card if you want - the antennas are of course present.

Condition is near perfect, keyboard appears brand new. No dead pixels noted, but I can only boot into BIOS. 8 cell battery is included, but I have no idea of condition and is not guaranteed in any way as I can not test. XP COA IS PRESENT, and I can supply a copy of IBM recovery CD's, since there is a COA for this unit. Recovery set is for an X41, but should be fine.
Remember, this takes a 1.8" hard drive, so you can not swap in the hard drive from your X22 (or whatever).

Price is $345 plus shipping. I think this can go in a flat rate priority mail box, which should make shipping around $17.00

PayPal accepted, CONFIRMED US ADDRESS ONLY.

Insanely awesome opportunity. If I didn't already have an X40, this would be SOLD!

I installed a 2.5" hard drive into the untraBase in a second hard drive adaptor, and the X40 booted up into 98 (which was on that drive) with no issues, and the LCD looks super. I don't have any battery info however, it does seem to hold a charge.

EDIT I got XP running on that hard drive, installed with no issues, the battery has 17 cycles with a first used date in 2005.

The service parts list does not show one as being present:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-53665

As well, the parts lookup for this unique system does not show that as installed, it does show the hard drive and the cover.
That is all I can tell you. The slots are very close to the edge, so it appears looking into the hole that a caddy may not be needed or even used, but I don't have one to test with.

I might be interested, but I'm curious, these machines use a 1.8 inch hard drive right? How hard is it to find one and were would one look? I did a quick search of a few computer retail websites and didn't see any new ones for sale and I'm always leery of buying a hard drive from ebay.
