Feeler: What can I get for my T40?

Hi all!
I'm thinking about selling my T40 (as well as most of the other over-accumulated computer hardware I have around here) in order to upgrade to a T/R60 and I'm wondering what I could get for it. Specs are:

1.7GHz Dothan w/ short fan
2 x 512mb (IBM sticks, if it makes a difference)
60GB HDD
DVD-ROM
Radeon 7500
Intel 10/100
modem, no bluetooth.
Thinkpad atheros a/b/g wifi (I hear it's better than the intel card?)
2hr battery
powersupply/cable
No USB2 problems

It has no case defects or screen problems, some of the keys are slightly worn, but nothing bad. There is a sticker on the lid, one of those security ones. I've never bothered to re-register it (though you can, if you wanted to) but I do believe it makes a good potential theft deterrent.

People I've been asking have said $400-$450, but I'm not sure, so I'd figure I'd ask here. You guys seem to have good ideas about this kind of stuff, so I've seen.

If the HDD is 7200rpm as in your signature, you're probably looking at $400. If not, slightly less.

This is under the assumption that the screen is XGA and that no warranty is left.

Nowadays, T42s are easily found under $400 mark...and they are pretty similar to what you have, apart from Gigabit Ethernet and a couple of minor details...

Good luck.

Yes, the screen is XGA (if that means 1024x768) and as far as I know there is no warranty left.

I sold a T40 this week for $370 plus $20 shipping.

Specification differences below (yours vs. mine);

1.7GHz Dothan --> 1.5GHz Banias
XGA (excel. condition) --> SXGA+ (v.g. condition)
2 x 512mb --> 2 x 256mb
60GB HDD --> new 80GB 7200rpm Travelstar
DVD-ROM --> CDRW/DVD
Radeon 7500 --> same
Intel 10/100 --> 10/100/1000
modem, no bluetooth --> same
atheros a/b/g --> Intel a/b/g
2hr battery --> same

I'd say roughly equivalent in terms of value.

So, you should expect about the same. Post pix, they help. Good luck. And, definitely list the speed of your 60GB drive.

Thanks for the insight guys, very helpful, I'll bust out the camera tonight and get some pictures.

Also, if anyone is interested in buying this machine in the neat future (2 months or so) feel free to email or PM me.

within the past (3) months I have purchased (3) T40's. The first was $450 (didn't research as well as I should have) and the last 2 were $375......One of these was in like 9 out of 10 on the near perfect chart. Flawless condition, no bumps, scratches, etc.
