This ram is not for a NAME Brand laptop. Possible Asus, eMachines and maybe some Compaqs. Does not work on an IBM/Lenovo. Works once then goes to a BSD... I called Kingston and he said the ram is fine, but not for a name brand but a third party laptop only. This is a Kingston Value Ram chip.
It sells on Ebay from $16 to $34.
Asking $12 shipped USA.
Thanks,
Ron

Have you memtested this stick in a non "NAME Brand" laptop?

No I haven't. Sorry I don't have a non-branded laptop. Also, I don't have a copy of MemTest.

I'm thinking that sounds strange. If it works in the other machines, as Kingston says, it should work in the ThinkPad.
Why not just go through the Kingston on-line RMA process stating that you are having intermittent errors with the stick - which is true...
You'll get a new stick and you can try that one, I bet it will work.

I tried that Ed. Once I told them that the ram worked once, I was sent to a techy. He asked me what machines I used the ram in, and then he told me that this is third party ram, not for name brand laptops including not IBM/Lenovo.........
What can I say? I tried. Maybe I should try again?

That's VERY unusual altogether...if it works, it should work ANYWHERE, maybe not giving the top performance but still...I'd bet that the chip is defective...
