WTB: Dead/empty T4x batteries

I travel with a number of T40/T41 laptops but they are always plugged into AC power. The battery weight I fly with is unnecessary weight.
But, leaving the batteries behind leaves a gap in the computer that reduces stability and looks a little strange for my students.
So I want to buy some dead unwanted batteries for my T40/T41 computers. Either dead and unwanted, or simply empty (casing only).
Location is Sydney, Australia.
Cheers!

How many are you looking for? 6 cell or 9 cell? Would you be interested in defective batteries (no charge / low charge)?

Just 6 cell - since I'll be removing the cells, I don't need the extra capacity of an empty 9 cell case
Defective batteries would be perfect - as long as the casing is in fine condition, I can tear out the cells and they'd serve perfectly!

May I know how you are going to do that?
Used/As-is batteries can be easily found on ebay. You might want to check on the Australian site since the postage often costs more than the battery itself

There seems to be a join along the side of the battery, so some intensive work with a screwdriver. It must be possible, there's battery reconditioners out there.
Unfortunately, Australia eBay rarely if at all has dead/useless batteries for sale, it's nearly always reconditioned batteries. Hence the post.
It'd be wasteful and almost a crime to destroy perfectly good batteries when there must be dead/useless batteries out there... they'd be cheaper to buy too.

I have a 6 cell battery that does not hold charge very well. I can part with it, but have never shipped to Australia, so would need so assistance there.

I opened up a battery with a couple of screwdrivers, it only took a few minutes of effort. One day I'll get around to re-celling it.

I have one of these lying around too. Wondering how you're going to put the empty shell back together, seeing as how you have to apply alot of force to open it. Keeping in mind that shipping an empty shell will be cheap, while shipping a bunch of dead weight will cost much.
