FS: my personal, VERY loaded R50P, Flexview, ship anywhere

#1 Post by ajkula66 » Tue Oct 23, 2007 9:28 pm

Time for this one to go...it has served us well, but I need to collect some money as well minimize the number of machines that I have, since I'm VERY intent on getting a T60P with UXGA...and that's going to be big bucks...watch for other pieces that I'll be posting later this week...

ThinkPad R50p 1832-22U

Original description:
P M 1.7GHz
512MB RAM...............upgraded to 2Gb
60GB 7200rpm HDD...............upgraded to 100Gb/7200 Hitachi
15 UXGA(1600x1200) TFT LCD,
128MB ATI FireGL T2
CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner,
IBM 802.11a/b/g wireless(MPCI)
Bluetooth/Modem(CDC)
UltraNav
Secure Chip
9 cell Li-Ion battery (holds charge, will post details once I re-load XP)
WinXP Pro

Physical condition is at least 9 out of 10, with minor overall wear. You'll be pretty hard pressed to find a much nicer one.

The warranty has expired.

Asking $650 plus reasonable shipping depending on where you are. I do ship worldwide and accept most payment methods. My usual offer of free shipping to lower 48 states if you choose NOT to use PayPal applies.

Please email me if you require pictures (should be available shortly) or have any questions/concerns regarding this machine, since PMs don't seem to be functioning properly at the moment.

Nice machine!

If you would have offered this a week ago, I would have bought it. But since I just bought an R50p from you, I don't need another one!

I know I won't be able to bring mine up to these specs for the little bit more you are charging for this one.

Good luck!

Kevin,

When you and I discussed your R50P, my wife was still dead set against selling this one...but women change their minds often, as I'm sure you know... :D

With just a little luck you might be able to get where you need to be with the price difference...let's talk when I clean out my stuff and see what's left...I'll drop you a "special discount" PM... 8)

I'll take it for $475 and save the seller the shipping hassle - :o

It's a 1.7 Pentium M Banias and it's worth a little more than these offers...

Thanks Ed, for setting the record straight...

Let me put it this way and very mildly, for all the lowballers reading my threads:

I am always open to REASONABLE offers. Not to offending ones.

I'll sooner put this R50p on fire than sell it for $450 in this configuration....and I do have three kids that can make good (ab)use of it, so I really don't have to sell it...

Thanks for bumping my thread, guys.

Thanks for bumping my thread, guys.

I would do the same thing. The only diff I would give this laptop on "Rent a laptop basis" to some1 who need laptop for presentation etc ...

It's very straight forward when some1 getting brand laptop in 800 US$, why he would look for 2nd hand laptop which has 2 GB ram?

Only people like me or those who need lotsa ram would clap hands to your laptop ....usually DDR 2 ram with 1 gb is enough to run softwares like Visual Studio 2005 etc.

It's better to keep the laptop. I bought R50e laptop 2 years ago for around 1100 US$ , heck its 1.5 centrino , 256 mb ram, 40 gb hdd..Nobody gonna pay me more than 300 US$ for this..Ha !!
Price aint falling but vendors offering too much in the same cost which attracts customers who are looking for dvd burner, DDR 2 ram, nVIDIA 256 onboard video chip and smart battery ..

How ever my personal opinion about ThinkPad is ..Dont look how old is it ....It rarely gives problem. Most robust and stable ...

I know many cases how DELL laptops blown after running UBUNTU for long time....

If I hadn't purchased an A31p recently, I would have no problem of taking it at the price that George is offering. The R50p can be configured as powerful as the T42p and it can take the QXGA panel later.

I paid about $460 for the A31p which has no bluetooth, no wireless (not even the cable), a slow P4M 1.7Ghz CPU, much less ram and a dead hard drive. However I'm happy with it. The most important thing is the machine is still like new (except the hard drive).

Good physical condition means no abuse. And that would cost money.

Good luck with the sale!

I don't crap other people's threads when I disagree with their pricing and expect the same courtesy to be applied to mine. Period.

Especially when the comments are coming from someone who has done the same thing to other people's for sale threads on more than one occasion.

Especially from someone who is clueless enough to ask whether R50p is powered by P4 or PM, meanwhile that information is right there in the original post.

Not to mention the fact that member in question has probably less posts than the number of laptops I've sold on this forum within the last six months...

Offers, if genuine, are to be submitted via PM. I do believe that this has been agreed upon on this forum a while ago. There is no need to start a bidding war. Go to eBay with that type of approach and see where it gets you.

sco1984,

Like nonny said, please "Knock it off". You clearly don't know enough about laptops, which is fine because we were all novices at one point and it takes time to learn. But please don't pretend you know a lot and ruin other people's for-sale ads.

This R50p is far better than your R50e. Remember, "p" = performance/power, and "e" = economy. The 2x1GB PC2700 alone is worth $130, and the 100GB 7200rpm hard drive another $80 (these are used prices). The 1600x1200 Flexview screen is also miles better than what you have on your R50e.

I've seen many brand new Compaq/Asus/Whatever laptops being sold for $300 in online and local stores in the last few years. Yet, many knowledgeable people would still rather pay $400 for a 5-year-old T40. ajkula66's asking price for this R50p is 100% reasonable. If $450 is all you can afford, this R50p isn't for you.

Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

The 1600x1200 flexview is miles better than any other (non-flexview) screen out there.
Brand new or otherwise.

I would gladly pay $250 extra for the screen.
So the breakdown:
$250 for screen
$130 for ram
$80 for HDD

That leaves $190 for excellent case, cpu, GPU, motherboard, multiburner, battery, shipping ....; and everything works, assembled, and backed by George.
