I'm VERY interested in selling this laptop because I plan to attend a university next year and would like to acquire one of the laptops they sell through their academic purchase plan.

Again, this is just me feeling around as I'm just not sure yet if I will sell. I would definitely post another post for making an actual sell.

Would anyone be willing to take the time to let me know how much this laptop would be worth?

ThinkPad T60 8744-5BU
Windows XP Professional
Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0Ghz
15.4" WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050
2GB DDR2 (Added 1GB Kingston myself)
120GB HDD
DVD±R/RW
ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 128MB
Modem, Gigabit LAN and WLAN (Atheros ABGN)
Fingerprint reader
Secure chip
UltraNav dual-pointing system
6-cell lithium ion
Factory Power Supply
Factory CDs
Bluetooth

Also, I would include a Atheros ABG MiniPCI Express card for better linux compatibility.

Sadly, this laptop does have one stuck, blue pixel on the bottom of the LCD. Also, the Bluetooth light on the LCD flickers as the panel is moved back and forth on the hinges indicating a loose connection.

It has about 2.5 years of warranty left. Body is in supurb shape and the screen looks untouched.

Again, thank you so much for your help! I look forward to college next year as I never thought I would go. :)

If you check the on-going sale at Lenovo outlet you will e.g. find the P/N 874L3AV545 with almost identical specs as yours, and offered at as little as $887,- It only has 1-year warranty, but that can be extended to 5 years for only $160 (search for IBM P/N 41C9180 e.g. --> here). While this is a special "Outlet"-offer, Lenovo are reducing prices on regular/frequent sales, so I would say that you should not expect more than $1000-1200.

What you could say, however, is that you have a fine system, with no problems (except from one single, small dead pixel), and that if people buy a brand new ThinkPad WSXGA they may risk to have up to 10 dead pixels (!!) and yet not be entitled for a replacement under warranty - according to Display (LCD) replacement for defective pixels - ThinkPad. You have only got a single one, so that may be considered as a good deal, compared to "worst case"!

You're most certainly right that I have a nice system. It would be borderline foolish to part with it.

I have decided to keep it after reviewing the costs involved. With your help I determined that I would be getting kicked in the butt financially.

After all, I do have Linux running on it. :) What more could a man want?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Good choice. DO NOT part with that system.
