Wanted: Thinkpad R50/p, T40-43/p, or others

Hello,

I am a student and looking for a laptop to use at school. I do not have a ton of money to spend, so my budget is between $100-300 depending on the machine.

I am looking for machines that may be missing certain things such as battery, hard drive, no-OS, RAM mainly because then I can buy it for cheaper.

Few basic requirements:

- No extensive damage to the screen and or general body of the laptop, minor scratches and/or wear and tear are okay, but should be described.

- At least Pentium M 1.5ghz.

- I do not want a machine with Windows included because I plan on using Linux.

- Prefer a laptop with hard drive missing and battery. Would like AC adapter if available, but not required.

- Willing to take certain computers missing other components such as RAM, etc.

If you have anything that you feel I might be interested in, please send me a private message and thank you!

Steve

Welcome to the forum!

You might do better checking eBay for a barebones, given those prices... A barebones T40 MIGHT go for $250-300 here, but highly unlikely that it would last long...

Thanks for the advice, I'll make sure to check ebay and a few other places as well. Just figured I'd try here in case anyone had a machine missing parts or whatnot that they just didn't want to deal with.

Thanks again!
