Sold: IBM ThinkPad A31 in operating condition with one significant problem - video corruption when base is flexed.

The GOOD

ThinkPad A31 that works perfectly on flat surfaces, like a desk or in the dock. The 15" XGA LCD is absolutely PERFECT. I have owned dozens of ThinkPads and this is without a doubt the brightest and clearest display I have seen. Cosmetically, the plastics are all in good condition, some light to medium scratches on the cover and the keyboard and palmrest are shiney. All keyboard letters are fully legible. The keyboard keys and mouse buttons all work well. All ports/connectors work perfectly. The battery shows 19+Wh capacity, over 1 hour of use.

Current Configuration:
Pentium 4-M 1.8GHz (512KB), 256MB RAM (one stick), 40.0GB HDD (4200RPM), 15.0 XGA (1024X768) TFT LCD, ATI 7500 Video w/32MB RAM, DVD Optical Drive, Modem(CDC), Ethernet(CDC), TV out, Li-Ion battery

Plus IBM Port Replicator, FRU: 02K8669 and Travel Bezel
NO AC Adapter and WinXP COA has been scraped off

The BAD

Apparently, there is something wrong with either the video memory or the GPU. Then the machine is flexed, video corruption occurs. The machine never freezes (like the T4x video issue), but horizontal dashes occur throughout the screen image. Putting the machine on a flat surface clears up the corruption. I've never seen the issue if the machine is kept on a desk. It has never frozen on me. Even with the video corruption, the screen is legible. I posted a picture that shows the extent of the issue.

Also, there is a small crack in the base plastic next to the eject lever on the left. The eject lever operation is NOT affected.

Please review the high resolution pictures carefully. I included one with the video issue and one with the crack.

$160 plus shipping - unless you can convince me it should be less (or more!) PayPal, USPS M.O. or cash accepted. No problem with local pickup.
