This is the ThinkPad 240 Celeron 300. 2609-21u

The screen started to get flakey a while back and subsequently refused to work. It had since been used with an external monitor until a few months ago. I took it apart to see if there were just loose connections and have proved negative. I have no interested in repairing it and decide to just sell it as a parts machine. Here is the caveat, I removed the screen to check for loose connections and have now lost the screws to put it back together. Therefore, you will get the unit with the screen disassambled. Unless I find the screws somewhere, count on receiving the parts WITHOUT the screws. The hard drive will be wiped blank before unit is shipped. There is no AC adapter. The battery is an extended battery from BTI. I have no idea how good the battery is. Payment by PayPal or MO. Unit will be shipped with FedEx Ground.

If you still have this, I am interested in the hard drive. Please quote me specs and price. Thanks.

FWIW, I have 2 of those 240s taken apart for the same reasons you mentioned. My last 240 is still functioning but the screen is starting to go dead unless I play with the bazel a bit. After taking two apart, I still have no idea why the screens stop working.

Cheers

dmacqueen,

Let me find the "laptop" and I will let you know. I put that away after I took the picture and now I have to find it.

PatrickInDC,

Mine was EXACTLY the same symtoms. Could be just the inverter but I have no time/interest in getting that fixed.

dmacqueen,

See the below link for a picture of the actual hard drive.

I assume you want the hard disk carrier also, so I will do $15 shipped to CONUS. USPS MO is the best but I can also do PayPal non-credit-card.

PS: The hard drive will be wiped clean and reformatted with FAT32 before shipping.
