#1 Post by simoniq » Fri Nov 09, 2007 3:45 am

I'm looking for a T60 with a FlexView screen or a T61 ( cause as I understand, they all have it? ).
Must have:
- widescreen (15,4 inch), at least 1400x1050, but preferrably 1680x1050
- with gpu better than integrated card ( some ati x1400 or better)
- at least 1 GB RAM

Payment and shippment inside USA.
If you have one and intend to sell it, please PM me.

First, welcome to the forum, Simon!

I am absolutely confident that you will find this forum a both friendly and also a very useful place to spend some time. Before starting to post, however, I also believe that you would benefit from reading the threads in the: READ ME FIRST FAQ then post section. Furthermore, there are two annoncements at the top of this Marketplace which you may also want to read.

If I was in your position (looking for one of these fantastic ThinkPads!), I would really first hang around for a long while in the ThinkPad T6x Series forum - and there picking up some basic (and some advanced!) information and whatever wisdom you run into there. From your post here, it appears to me that you have not - in my honest opinion! - really spent that much time to consider what you really want (since there are e.g. no T61's with FlexView/IPS at all, and there are also no 15.4" widescreen ThinkPad's with FlexView/IPS - at all). May I also kindly suggest that you read the thread: LCDs on T60/T60p - types, availability and other discussions? Finally, please allow me to suggest that you have a look in the famous tabook ("Personal Systems Reference Lenovo ThinkPad Notebooks")... you'll find a link to it in the thread T4X specs; see the post of Jan 28, 2007 1:01 pm. In the tabook you will find specifications on e.g. T60/p's and T61/p's available today. Have a thorough look there - and then think a little more about what YOU really ddream abou. Then, when you're a full ThinkPad T60/T61 expert :-) then you're ready to go spend your hard-earned money. But... take a little deeper look on your own, first.

In conclusion, prepare yourself to become a happy THinkPad'er! :thumbs-UP:

Best regards,

Johan

Ok. Went throught forums and all, and after some time spent, the requirements change:

Looking for

T60:
- display of 15 inches SXGA+ that has FlexView
- 1GB RAM minimum

or

T61:
- display of 15 inches SXGA+ or 15.4 inches WSXGA+
- 1GB RAM minimum

I think about FlexView, because the laptop will be a desktop replacement and during watching movies it would be very helpful. But if I won't be able to find one... Bummer :)

... check remaining warranty, and check its coverage in Euro

Well, Simon, I absolutely support the decision to go for for FlexView... :-)

If you however don't find any here, there is probably an option at eBay - less than two weeks ago this T60 w/SXGA+ FlexView/IPS went for only $610,- and I honestly don't believe you will find it any cheaper than this.

Beware of remaining warranty, if you buy used, and/or consider extending the warranty in the USA (much cheaper to do this in the USA, compared to in Europe!). Also, make sure that the ThinkPad you buy is supported by the IBM International warranty service (IWS) - check this at the IBM IWS site. If you search this forum for "extending warranty" and/or for "IWS", you will find quite a few recent threads discussing these issues.

Again: I don't wish to, and I don't intend to make this "WTB" thread into a discussion, but I only wanted to point your attention to the above, if you were not already aware.

Good luck with your hopefully soon-to-be ThinkPad!

Best regards,

Johan

Ok. Went through some stuff on the net, and came to a result - each and every 15" SXGA display in T60 is FlexView ISP (http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/TFT_display).
So let's say I want a T60 with that display and the specs mentioned earlier.
...it's a way to get what one wants, but in that case I know it's woth it! :)

Seems like I bought one over eBay. So the topic is off. Thanks!

You can get Flexview in a T60 with a 15.0" TFT IPS display with 1400x1050 resolution or in a T60/P with a 15.0" TFT IPS display with 1600x1200 resolution.
