WTB T4x Not Made in China [pics]

For personal reasons I prefer Thinkpads made outside of China.
Please let me know if such a beast exist and if it does, if anyone is interested in parting with one.
My T23 is having the pulsating fan problem but the inductor coils as mentioned in the T23 forum are intact so. . . I'm back to using my T22.
I am amazed by how long I am able to use my T2x thinkpads. I think I bought my T22 back in 2001. Everything in the T22 has been changed at least once including the SXGA lcd, both top and bottom cover. A little over a year ago I finally upgraded to the T23. First piecing together the T23 together part by part cannibalizing the T22, then once I got the T23 working I build back the T22 together again. Anyway now that I'm having problem with the T23, the search is on again for the T22 replacement.
Thanks,
John

it MIGHT be that a very early or rare T40 was made in mexico..
but i don't remember when the change to a chinese factory was made..
but ibm was making thinkpads in china well before the lenovo deal..
i believe the T30's were made in mexico, so you can try for one of those..
IRT your desire for a non-chinese made thinkpad..
i personally think you're fighting the last war..
which is all we will say on this subject in this thread..
this is an educational and support forum..
if you want to get political, go to "off topic stuff" and you can rant until cursing starts..
which is when a mod will reprimand and lock..

Some T42s/T43s were made in Japan or Mexico, and some early T40s were made in the UK. But many/most of their components were still made in China.
Take a look at
this
Maybe you can try to contact those ThinkPad owners whose machines were made outside of China. But if I were you, I'd simply dissemble it, re-assemble it, then attach a sticker to the bottom "Made in the USA by me"

I actually thought about assembling it from parts and milling my own top and bottom cover out of aluminum. . . . but I thought maybe I should try a search first before going to such extreme. I'm okay with components and accessories that are made in China. . . . otherwise I don't think I'll ever have a functioning laptop.
Anyway, I'm surprised by how long I can hold out with PIII 800Mhz/1.13Ghz T2x and SXGA screen. Thanks for the advise, I'll try contacting those owners.

Not just the last war but a lost war as well. . . . I am simply searching for my last Thinkpad. I don't know if I'll find one but it's nice to know that at least there is hope.

If you are not hard locked on a T series, my R40 series machine was made in Korea...You might want to consider that as an alternative.

you just have to post the pics eh'. . . . well at least I know I'm not pursuing the impossible. . .
Does this mean that if I find a 2373-KTU else where it will also be made in Japan?
I'm open to other thinkpad series but the T2x series is the only thinkpads I've owned. I run Debian on my laptop most of the time and T series is probably the most linux friendly.
. . . still looking. . . .

There are lots of folks running debian or debian based distro's like ubuntu / kubuntu on R series, X series, etc Thinkpads. Both of the machines in my sig have ubuntu or kubuntu installed - the R40 has had ubuntu or kubuntu on it since 5.04 which was released approximately April 2005.
You're in pretty good shape in terms of linux with a Thinkpad in general regardless of the series it's from (in my opinion).

Everybody has their price. Now we have a buyer and a product, all we need is terms...!
P.S.
Not for sale is the strongest position to negotiate from with a willing buyer, but clearly you know that!
