WTB: T30 - T40 Thinkpad

#1 Post by DrGrafix » Thu May 27, 2004 10:04 pm

Looking for a clean, used T30 with _some_ warranty time remaining. Preferred configuration must include SXGA+ (1400 X 1050) graphics. Battery must hold a charge for at least 90 minutes, CPU can be 2.0 P4 and up, 512MB RAM minimum, 40Gig HDD minimum, XP Pro OS, 802.11 wireless a plus. DVD/CD-RW is good, screen must be 100%, no dead pixels. Bag, extra software could be interesting, but not critical. Office 2003 is probably the only software that might interest me as I have all my own graphics stuff (Corel 11, Photoshop 7, Visio 2000, etc.). Bluetooth would also be nice because I have a bluetooth iPaq with a Navman GPS. I like to transfer contact information (I'm in sales) from Outlook 2003 which I have.

Seller should be willing to accept paypal or money order, and since I'm selling a laptop on eBay, I'm probably 99% sure the deal would have to allow paypal. I'm about 10 days away from being ready to buy. From what I've seen on eBay, a machine I'd be interested in is usually going for around $1000.00 to $1200.00. Here are a couple I would've bid/bought but the timing wasn't right:

So if you have a T30 that fits my needs, consider giving it a fine home by selling it to me at a fair price. I've never had my hands on a T40, but I understand there are plenty that have the 15" display with the SXGA+ 1400 X 1050 graphics. Size is a concern and since I just sold a T21 and loved the size so much... I'm selling my brand-new HP nx9010 because it's awesome for features... but a little too big to lug around. The T21-T30 weight is what I like.

Post here or PM me and we can take it from there.

Mike

Check your email. Hope that I figured out what your real email is from your usenet handle shows. I keep forgetting you're a Jersey guy. I grew up in NJ, moved to MA in 1977. We had a summer house in Lavalettle, and I painfully remember Fort Dix!

If you don't get the email, PM me.

Mike,
I have a T30 that is like new / Mint condition that's available. Purchased from Bill here a little over a year ago with warranty remaining. 2366JBU, has everything you've requested and more, 2.4 GHz, 60 Gig, 512 MEG, CDRW-DVD, perfect 1400 X 1050 LCD. Not a scratch anywhere, all accessories and manuals and original packaging.

Best regards,
Frank

Frank...

Sounds interesting. I'm auctioning off the HP this week, and as you can see from the OP (edited) there are several on eBay that would/would've interested me provided the price is right. I'm about a week away from making a decision... so please keep me in mind and if you'd like to PM me with any further specs/info, please do.

And thanks for the response everyone!

Mike

Just like to note to one and all that the HP is gone :D and I'm ready to start seriously looking for a used TP. Models I'd be interested in would be T30, T40, T40p, T41, and maybe a T41p :D so if you're thinking of getting a T42, or something even more exotic... and have a pristine TP talk to me.

I would prefer a machine with a minimum of 512mb but 1 Gig of memory is far more attractive. The SXGA+ screen is a must, and the bigger (and faster) the HDD the better. Preferred OS is XPP but W2K would not be a big problem, wireless would be nice, as would bluetooth. My budget hasn't changed much, but I could stretch it a little for a really nice machine.

IBM has my dream machine on eBay for $1799.00, but this one is new:

It's hard to estimate what this machine would be worth used. You can't used the "Used Electronics Philosophy" of 50% the minute it's used (and not new anymore) with a TP that has some warranty left on it. Any ideas?

Feel free to PM me and if you have digital pix... great.

Mike
