WTB: Cheap older Desktop/Tower for Xmas Present; P3-900 etc.

hello folks,

A friend of ours is an independent farmer; so basically he's broke...lol...

His clone-PC is giving him fits, and although we don't have a lot of bucks ourselves, I thought I'd try to get him something solid for xmas.

I'm looking for the kind of machine you see on epay or craigslist for 50 bucks....an old P3-900 or similar. IBM Intelli-somethings....or Dell Optiplexes...etc..

Preferably a mini-tower, but a desktop would work too.

He's been running win98, so THAT has to end right now...lol...so I need a machine that'll run win2000 comfortably.

- 1024mb RAM

- 40-80gb hard disk; speed not important

- Plain-jane VGA on-board or plugin...but NOT a gamer-card problem-child...lol.

I don't want to have to chase down and update video drivers for two weeks...or deal with overheat issues. This doesn't need to be a fast PC, it needs to be a RELIABLE pc.

- CDRW drive

Don't need kbd, monitor, modem, or mouse....have all that from his old PC.

I'm in Oregon, so I suppose machines near here would save money on shipping; unless you get good rates at the office or soemthing.
