Key mechanism for A31

#1 Post by Paul Pennington » Thu Nov 29, 2007 9:18 pm

The "E" key on my A31 still works, but the little plastic mechanism under the keycap is broken. Does anyone have a junk keyboard they're parting out? If someone could mail me a couple I'd be glad to reimburse him for postage.

MOD EDIT: Moved to Marketplace.

Will the keys from an A2x system work?

I don't know if a T2x keyboard has the same parts or not. If no one comes up with an A31 keyboard I'll get back to you. Thanks.

You should just change the entire keyboard if the rubber part is messed up. I am looking for a system board for my second A31. If you don't get that key fixed, let me know what you want for your system board ;).

I guess I'll keep this A31 -- it's my main computer and the key is the only thing wrong with it :-)

I should have mentioned that the keytop and the rubber dome switch beneath are fine, it's just the little plastic mechanism between that I need. They're easily replaced from the top with the help of information in the fine forums here.

The problem is that there are different makers of keyboards and the parts do not interchange. You would need to be very specific as to who made the keyboard and when.

But if you just replace the entire keyboard it's not an issue.
