WTB: T60p 15" UXGA; Prepared to Buy Today

With the recent drop in prices, I've been convinced by the experts here to upgrade my buying plans from a T42p to a T60p.

A T60p just like what I need sold here 4-5 days ago; with an asking price of $1,150. Probably went for a little less than that; but in any case, that's the range I'm looking in.

hello folks,

After my search, I bought a T60p from a forum-member a week ago.

However, a week later it still hasn't shipped.

After inquiring, I was told this morning that he smoked it while installing a new battery (?).

I did receive a refund today; but after thinking I was DONE with the purchasing-routine, I'm back to the beginning again...LOL...

I need a T60p with a flawless UXGA 15" flexview and some length of remaining warranty.

If you have one to sell, please PM me today.

I can handle almost any config if the price is right; but this is my preferred config:

2gb RAM, HD of 160gb or more, Atheros WiFi, 56k modem and 10/100 enet, 9-cell batt with low cycle-count.

Don't care about any of the trinkets like fingerprint etc..

If of interest: Yesterday, I discovered a T60p/UXGA (2623-DDU) advertised for sale at the NotebookForums site --> FS: Thinkpad T60P loaded! - check it out! (NB: In my understanding the "asking price" stated there means "negotiable"). If you don't already know the 2623-DDU, have a look e.g. in the thread LCDs on T60/T60p - types, availability and other discussions - much discussion about that model there! If you Google for "T60p + review" (and/or 2623-DDU), you will find quite a few reviews.

Also, while Google'ing a little further around, I found another 2623-DDU, and asked the seller if it was still for sale - and yes, it is... and after making the seller aware of the recent price drops on new ThinkPads, the seller offered me (per mail) a reduction in price to $1,250 on this T60p - this price even includes a Brenthaven laptop bag and the docking station. You will find the advertisement here. The e-mail address on that site is valid.

Please beware that Lenovo are currently having a Christmas-sale with big discounts one.g. T61p's - as evident from BIG SALE at lenovo website. This seems to put the used ThinkPad prices even further under pressure...

PS: If buying a used T60p, beware of any display problems - ask the seller to check the display carefully. See e.g. the thread LCD issue appearing out of the blue. Also, check if the T60p you (maybe) buy has some amount of remaining warranty - if so, you are able to extend it for another two years (for about $150); read how in the thread FS Flexview heaven T60P and T42P's (see the post of Sun Nov 25, 2007 1:41 pm).
