A young lady I work with purchased this for her neice in the summer of 2006. It was used a few weeks over the summer, then daddy bought her a "better" laptop before school started a month or so later and in the closet the R60 went. It is now being sold to get what they can for it. They asked me to help with the sale (excitement I don't need). I will be receiving it tomorrow and will check it over prior to delivery to it's new owner. I'll post battery info and anything else I feel a buyer needs to know on Thursday (including pictures IF I need to bring attention to anything... otherwise no pics)

R60 Model 9457-97U (was purchased from a Lenovo Auth. Retailer and is not a refurb). Only the laptop, a/c adapter and cord are being sold (the original box, manual, and extra tips will be provided only if they can be found).

Original Description: T2300E (1.66GHz), 512MB RAM, 60GB 5400rpm HD, 15inch 1024x768 LCD, Intel 950, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, IEEE 1394 (firewire), Fingerprint reader, 6cell Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

Warranty good through 7/16/09

Price $599 + shipping to your destination (will ship most anywhere) ***I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THE OWNER TO STATE A FIRM LOWER PRICE, BUT SHE WILL BE LISTING ON EBAY AS A "BEST OFFER" SALE SO I AM ALLOWED TO TAKE ANY OFFER TO HER FOR CONSIDERATION. I REPEAT, ANY OFFER. She wants to sell it this week.

Payment through PayPal for US & UK buyers. All others through bank wire since PayPal won't protect me.

Questions, etc., please E-MAIL me

EDIT: As promised I obtained the laptop last night. It was returned to factory state. The appearance is extraordinary for a laptop of it's age and reflects what would amount to a week or so of careful adult use. There are no nicks, scratches, marks, dents, etc., that I saw with my look-over (no magnifying glass used in this process), so no pictures will be posted. I mean why waste webspace with something that shows nothing? Her aunt described it accurately as a laptop used for a week or two then placed in the closet! The aunt did not have the box or the manual and extra tips. Only the laptop, a/c adapter and power cord will be sold unless she can find the other items.

599 US$ is quit expensive for R60 which is 1 year + used. You mentioned its used for few weeks but year the person bought the laptop is already 1 year and plus which reduces the price of laptop.
I already sent e-mail to you. Please check. I am very interested to purchase this 1 . I was thinking about Z series but costing going a lot and I dont do designing work that much ..R 60 will suffice my need as it as Duo Core processor and DDR 2 ram. 8)

Mod warning - all discussion about price for marketplace items will be done by private PM and not in the open forum.

I responded to your e-mail but will address things here somewhat too. The price is $599 BECAUSE the laptop was purchased in July 2006, not in spite of it. Please know they were retailing on the Lenovo site and elsewhere for nearly three times that back then. They weren't being sold for $699, or even $999, so $599 today is a significant discount from the new price. Also, remember that this is a 3-year warranty machine which is rare these days. Over half the warranty still remains. There are refurbs being sold on ebay for $100++ more than her asking price (and check the warranty they have). Finally, I just checked over the laptop and while returning it to factory state noticed it looks like a laptop would after about a week or so of my careful use. It's a real beauty, and if I had someone who needed a laptop I would not hesitate to give it to them as a holiday gift as it looks like new to me. As I mentioned in my e-mail to you the owner may be willing to negotiate a bit on the price depending on the cost & effort she needs to put forth to complete the sale and ship the item. While she is willing to ship overseas, I am more likely to get her to bargain with a more local buyer (right now).

Thanks for your interest.

This is an "out of place" kudos to a fine person and a great seller of IBM/LENOVO laptops and parts. John is as honest as the day is long.(Aren't days getting shorter now it's winter?) Anyway, I'm not fond of 15" displays, but if I was, I would find a buyer for this "like new" laptop.

My .02,

Ron

Why don't we just kick [s**4] out of this forum :). He has done many times like this before! :)

BTW, if it's a good price, the item would go right away. Even before we post any reply. If it's a fair one, will take a week. Otherwise, the item would stay here day after day, week after week, and a seller has to reduce the price.
Have fun!

Havent seen you in a while, Yak - Welcome back! I'd have been all over this if you had put this up 2 months back ... seriously, anyone lowballing this must be crazy.

New members of the forum: John is one of the best sellers here ... I have bought numerous items from him for myself and students and I'd never hesitate to buy from him again ... I guarantee that you won't be disappointed with this machine.

I agree. Yak is a good seller. I have bought from him before more than once and he underestimates the quality of the things he sells. It is nicer than he says. I'd buy it if I weren't up to my neck in Thinkpads right now.
Yak, your price is fine. Good luck with your sale.

I second the endorsement. I've purchased from Yak and was always surprised and delighted by the condition of what I received.

Had this appeared a week earlier, I would have bought it instead of the new R61 I bought for my associate.

Owner has now allowed me to take offers to her for consideration. ANY offer. She wants it sold this week.
