Anyone know where I can get a checked out and fully working a31p. I'm spoiled by the uxga screen and need something interchangeable with my other a31p.
Thanks
MOD EDIT: Moved to Marketplace for your sake.

First of all, welcome to the forum!
A couple of questions here:
a)What's your definition of "refurbished" and "checked out"?
b) Any particular configuration you're interested in?
c) What price range are we looking at here?
As you can see from my signature, I'm a fellow A31p buff (probably an understatement of the millenium) as well as the owner of several of these fine machines...
Let us know.

I need the uxga screen and the 2 ghz chip, otherwise I have whatever ultrabays and docking stations that I need. memory is no big deal. I'd like to just be sure all the usb ports work and the screen is good etc. Obviously price is important, that's why my requirements are low. It's basically going to be a backup for my current a31p, so I can pull memory and ultrabays out of that one as needed. I want to get rid of my a22p once I get a a31p. The a22p shares the same bays and docking stations, but it is maxed out at 512 meg ram.

What is your budget?

There was just one competed on ebay for 220+shipping. Budget depends on what it has, one with a gig of ram and a good battery with a dvd burner I would consider, but if I could get one for a similiar price than what is on ebay would be great. If I could get a great one with a good battery, the 2.0 chip, they all have the uxga 1600x1200, and with no broken buttons or pcmcia buttons, and no ultrabays and no ac adapter and no hard drive I want to stay under 250. But at least a gig of ram or 2, a great battery, and no hard drive,no ac adapter, and no ultra bays then the added ram would make me go higher. I'm in no immediate rush. Some ebay completed sales have gone for really low prices. But most units come with these, so price depends on what the owners have in them. I have yet to see a great shape bare one.

And I guarantee you that at least three out of five that go for these low prices on fleabay will have problem a, b or c
a) bad backlight
b) bad GPU
c) both
Not to mention the fact that you may run into a machine that had its FlexView replaced by regular XGA...good luck getting your money from PayPal then...and I'm not the only one who is reporting this paricular issue...
There is a reason I'm still able to sell high-end, pristine A31p machines for $450 and above all over the world...
Good luck.

do you have one like what I'm looking for? no ac adapter, empty ultrabays (left side blank cover), no hard drive(just te drive cover) and at at least a 512ram chip. I don't mind paying for quality unit history. I wouldn't pay that low of an ebay price because of what you mentioned, that's why I didn't bid. I'd rather deal with a quality unit than junk.

I want to point out those problems mentioned are why I haven't bid on such a low priced unit. I don't mind paying 450 for a fine unit. I just don't need what I already have, such as ultrabays, ac adapter and hard drives. If I can not get those, then fine. Otherwise I'll consider what's available. By the way, what's a perfect condition 512 meg ram, 60gig HD a22p worth with a cdrw/dvd bay?

As for A22p as you've described it, I'd say $225-$250. These are fine machines with a pretty strong following, even nowadays.
In general, I try not to sell "shells" unless there's something wrong with them...
I have a couple of A31p machines, the only one which is a 2.0 would be VERY expensive for the following reasons:
a) Still under IBM warranty until late 2008
b) New motherboard and most plastics six months ago...
But, I do get these on fairly regular basis, and can drop you a line once there's a "new kid in town"...
Good luck.

do you wanna trade for the a22p ?I've got 60, 80 or a new 120gig hd.
yeah, I see why that would be an expensive one. My main a31p has 2 gig of ram, and the 2.o chip. That's why I'm spoiled, lol

I meant partial trade..........lol

that t42p you sold recently, ever get any of those? but then I couldn't use my ultra bays and docking station, darn. For that price I would have gotten it.

John, since you're new to the forum, to put it to you this way:
A31p machines are my passion. I intend to be buried with one.
Anything else (apart from T6x series) that has FlexView LCD shows up at my house with some regularity, although in no particular order. I can tell you that there will be some T43s and probably some R50p machines soon, but I don't know the details.
Whatever I decide to sell I offer here on the forum first. Decent units, that is.
Just to give you an idea. Stay tuned to this forum, it's a great place to be.

Thanks for the help. The a31p's are the best.....I've have tons of laptops and the a31's and a22p (I also have a sxga T22) are the best.
I'm not near the web often, so if you get the kind of a31p that I am looking for, please let me know. With my luck, I hope not to miss it like the t42p that you just sold.... Is there a big difference between the 1.7 and 2.0 chips. I do alot of photo and video work. If the difference is negligable (especially with over 1 gig of ram) I may consider one of those. Sorry for ALL the questons, but I'm not online often lately, and just decided about getting another a31p. One of those impulse decisions etc. Thanks for your patience.

I'll be selling one of my 2.0 machines, have yet to decide which one, in about 2 weeks. You are the first one on my list if you're willing to wait that long.

by johnd911
Yes, I'm willing to wait. Will you sell them full or I don't mind one without a hard drive or cdrw etc. I'd rather buy from you then from ebay. Then, I'll worry about getting rid of my perfect a22p. Please let me know, thanks.

Thanks. I bet almost all of the ebay ones have screen problems (red tint etc.) and who knows how honest they are.

Do not post much but people seem to be having problems with PAYPAL on ebay. Well paypal sucks for higher priced items & if you do not know if you can trust seller. Solution, Get Email with all specs of machine from seller, then send a USPS Money Order for payment. If item is not as described got to POSTMASTER - Its Mail Fraud - Postal Inspector will show up at sellers Door - Guaranteed. I have bought on Ebay almost since it started & have never had any problems using USPS MO's. The one time I did the Post Office handed me my Money, just took a couple of weeks.
