I bought it on ebay used in November and just use it for travel
No scratches on screen or case -- machine looks nearly new and operates perfectly -- very fast
Has XP Pro SP2, activated and all updates with COA on machine

I have upgraded to an X61 for travel -- so my T42 sits on desk unused -- No current waranty, but I will personally warranty for 30 days because I know machine is excellent

thanks goofyGAguy, serpico already informed me -- a lot of what I know about my thinkpads is just as written -- having to learn a bit at a time what those numbers/letters mean :) the main thing I do know is how much I love my thinkpads!
