Two docking stations - used with T30 [incl images]

#1 Post by iam8up » Thu Jan 31, 2008 10:49 pm

I have two used docking stations here. I used them about a year ago and they just sat on the table. I am tired of seeing them sit there.

Both have included power cable/power supplies with them. No additional cards are included with the advanced docking station.

I am asking $5 plus the cost of shipping for one, both for $8 and cost of shipping. I will ship USPS, UPS or Fedex (it will be shipping from 45373). I prefer Paypal but have no problems with cash/check/money order. I do ask that the money arrive in my hands before shipping, however.

These two docks appear to be somewhat different. What are their model numbers? I might be interest in them. I've been thinking that I want a docking station (or two), but since I've never had one, I will need to research them for more information.

One of them appears to be a 2878 Mini Dock, which at the asking price is a steal!!

Probably why tfflivemb2 beat me to 'em. But I'm still not sure if a mini dock would do me any good. "Cause I was thinking it would be nice to have a PCI expansion slot. Docking stations have that, right? Does a mini dock? I still need to do some research to learn what advantages there are to using a docking station. I've used laptops for five or six years now without ever needing a dock (as far as I know).

The other is a 2631 ThinkPad Dock, which is even more of a steal.

The 2631 has a PCI expansion slot, whilst the 2878 doesn't. I think that if you use your laptop on a desk for prolonged periods, the advantages provided by the extra ports is well worth the investment. I, for one, love my 2878 dock because it provides me with 4 extra powered USB ports where I can plug my printer, external drives and wireless keyboard/mouse receiver into and leave the 2 laptop ports for temporary USB devices.

What I like about docking stations is when I arrive at home or the office I take my laptop out my laptop bag, place it down and my monitor/keyboard/mouse/sound/network/power are ready to go. It saves the wear and tear of the jacks and is SO MUCH EASIER versus dealing with 6 cables/plugs 4 times a day.
