These appear to be as rare as hens' teeth - and as expensive. Does anyone know why? And does anyone have an inexpensive source for such parts - i.e. less than $20 shipped?

Either $30 shipped to the USA, or damaged (cracked) $30 shipped to Germany. That's unfortunately not much of a choice for a piece of plastic that shouldn't cost even $10.
